"This is the kind of story a retired newspaperman like myself really enjoys. Meet Lil Ice Cream Dude, or Victor Bean Tracy Shell, the youngster entrepreneur in Athens, Georgia, and the youngest ever to become a member of the Athens Chamber of Commerce. At the age of 8, he began operating his own ice cream cart in his neighborhood and became the youngster licensed vendor ever to work in Sanford Stadium during a Georgia football game. He opened The Ice Cream Shop on June 9, 2019, his 15th birthday. Located at 1040 Gaines School Road, it is open from noon to 8 Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 7 on Sunday. He offers 36 flavors of ice cream, eight flavors of Italian ice, ice cream sandwiches, milk shakes, sundaes, scoops, cones and hand-packed pint, quart and half-gallon containers. My wife and I sampled several ice cream flavors with scoops of banana pudding, butter pecan, butter brittle, orange sherbet, rainbow sherbet, pecan praline, strawberry shortcake and lemon cheesecake. Then we left with a couple of cones, Jacked Up Tennessee Toffee and Oreo cookies and cream. Can you imagine how successful this kid will be once he gets a hang for the business?"
