"Most of my life in the Chicagoland region are gyro and Italian beef places plentiful. We drive in the middle of a desert along Interstate 15 and I see a sign that Mad Greek Cafe. Really?! When we exited from the highway, towards the town of Baker, I did not expect to find anything except an old restaurant that existed a long time ago, before fast food chain restaurants came to life. When we drove through Baker CA, I was almost sure that this place no longer existed. As I said in another review, there is nothing wrong with fast food chain restaurants, but finding something better, in the middle of nowhere to eat is just luck! As we continued in a way, on my right it was like the Parthenon in ancient Greece. A spectacle of white statues on the vicinity of the restaurant. We went in and it was order at the counter and they call your number when it was ready service. The gyro meat was juicy and tasted like the gyro meat of the Greek city in Chicago. The zaziki sauce, red onions, tomatoes and salad were the perfect accompaniment for the tasteful delicate gyro meat. The Pita was so soft and fresh. I wish I could have tried the hummus, but my gyro is probably enough calories worth food for 2 days and I didn't order it. Also, my men's house made strawberry shake, that was 10 out of 10. I couldn't think of something that would make it better. This place is an oasis in the desert."
