"We have eaten at this restaurant 3 times in the last 2 years, our first two visits were a little disappointing but the service and the ambiance was exceptional so I waited to leave a review. This week 's meal was very good, but I 'm leaving 3 stars for the following reasons. We called ahead to inquire about a reservation and to see what was being served that night. We were accommodated last minute which was a win, we were told it was a prix fixe menu with homemade pasta, lamb sirloin with creamy horseradish with ratatouille and a pecan tart for dessert for $42 per person. We made our reservation and the service and meal were excellent. Now the plate pictured was the main entree for 2, for $84 to get about maybe a 1/2lb of lamb and a simple ratatouille seems excessive, first complaint. Second compliant, after we finished and had the check delivered we noticed the charge was for $103, we only had the meal with water no other beverages ordered. The charge on the check was labeled as pre-tip?? We asked the server about it and were told that a 15% hotel service fee is automatically added and that she would not receive any of that fee which is why it was labeled pre-tip . When we called to make the reservation it was explained about a 15% gratuity charge, but now being told that this is for the hotel and not the server! Very shady, we of course tipped our server for her great service but after adding another $20 for her, the bill is now $123 for what was quoted as a $84 meal. It 's not the money but the principal. Just charge want you need to charge and don 't bait and switch. I don 't like to leave bad reviews but this really put me off. Please consider re-thinking this practice or make sure that when booking the reservations that it is made clear the your charging for the meal, an extra 15% for the house and then a gratuity for the server to be determined by the customer."
