"I tried Union Woodshop for the first time on my way to a concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre. The trip to the concert hall was a breeze from here and lasted only about 5-10 minutes and without traffic jams as there are when approaching the other direction. There was a 40-minute waiting time to take place so we had an order that was ready to EXACTLY when it was estimated that it was ready and the order was correct. They were very generous with the containers of the BBQ sauce, which are free on request. This place is ideal for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans. I ordered the Pretender Burger without cheese or Mayo and substituted with vegetarian dirty rice for frits. I tried the Memphis, Lockhart and Koreatown BBQ sauces. They describe Lockhart as “very sharp” but who has lived in TX as I have) will probably not find it at all. It's good! Koreatown reminded me of sweet acid sauce, but you could say it had a lot of fresh ingredients in it. The next day I used my leftovers as a salad dress, but it would be really good with spring rolls or egg rolls. I used the Memphis sauce on both my burger and rice. I am a long-term vegan, but due to time constraints and other factors, I have not asked to check that the rice and the burger bungalow were fully vegan, so if you do not want any chance to consume something non-vegan, you will ask about this and report back). My dining room partner ordered the Coco house salad, which is herzhafter as the typical side salad, as it has chickpeas and it seems to be vegan if without the feta cheese or the dressing that seemed milk or egg based, although it is possible, it is not, but it looked so to me). Some people find the parking situation difficult, but for me it depends on what you are used to. It is much easier than most big cities, but it is in a “hip” area that can be a little busy. There are some free parallel parking, and a paid lot of $1/hr) over the street."

"Overall, the taste was good, but there were some smaller quirks that were not related to the food. It does not open until 12PM, it is closed on Sunday Monday, and the number of parking spaces and rooms to manoeuvre cars in the parking lot are inadequate. Because of COVID, the server owner? takes your order outside and then goes back, locks the door and prepares the food. It looked like a person operation. So, if she's in the middle of preparing an order or you don't see at the door, you might have to wait a few minutes before she leaves. The seating is limited and it's all out now. There is a retractable awning that offers shades for sunny days. I ordered the chicken-shawarma sandwich $8.99 . It was a satisfying one footer meaning! pita rolled with hot steamy roasted chicken with some delicious spicy creamy sauce. I liked how she broke the Pita in a Panini press! It would have been better if the filling had more salad, tomatoes, and other things that they usually have in a Shawarma Turnip pickles, onion slices, tahini, banana pepper, Harissa paste, etc., but perhaps this was the Eritrean version? Anyway, I enjoyed it for what it was. I saw a few tables over, but I noticed that every lady ordered the Shawarma salad $8.99, not the Shawarma plate $10.99, which looked like a better deal than my sandwich, except that they did not Pita. Her salads had more salad and saw more filling still had the same amount of meat! Maybe. I will increase my fiber intake next time by ordering the salad for what would be the same price as a sandwich!"
