"Have enjoyed many dinners at Chef Hannes, decor is lacking but we like sitting on the sidewalk. Woefully understaffed and for a place with Chef in the name you think the atmosphere would be more food centered. Every visit we have only seen a lone table waiter, not sure what is in back. On one visit early in the summer we had a server named Emily who was personable, professional, and brought a delightful spirit to the place. Maybe she was too qualified to stay. Last night we had to endure this young dolt of a waiter that has no idea what is doing or why he is there. My bad is a constant reply, He needs to be prompted to mention the specials, stumbles through his recital, then wanders off. I ordered the pork chops, had them before and was looking forward to enjoy the dish again. Twice he tried to bring us someone else 's order and when our plate did arrive, he brought a pork tenderloin to the table with no explanation. I pointed out that it was not my order, he said, Yeah, I know, they didn 't have pork chops. I asked why he did not share that information with me, so maybe I could change my order. He looked perplexed, I asked, what are my choices now? He looked confused. I ate what he brought, the meat was dry and the vegetables undercooked. $28. for a plate that did not satisfy. Often when there is a mistake a waiter will take the initiative to adjust the bill or offer dessert on the house, This guy appeared clueless, completely out of his depth, unaware of any problem. Meanwhile a couple still waiting for menus and the waiters attention observed my interaction, got up and walked off, waiter was oblivious, did not ever register that they had ever been there. The terrible service overshadows everything including great food. We will give Chef Hannes a rest for a while and hope they remedy the situation, we want to like the place, it could be our perfect local neighborhood bistro. FOOD, Usually very good, and served hot. SERVICE, Absolutely tragic! Sub-par, idiotic! Reflects poorly on management. AMBIANCE Lacking aesthetic appeal inside but great sidewalk tables,"

"We love to support our local eateries. Plus, with it being New Year 's Eve, we wanted to find a nice place that we could walk to to avoid the crazies. Well. Second City Bistro seemed to fit the bill. The ambiance and decorations are great. Look at some of the pictures of the hanging holiday balls and lights from the ceiling along with the over-sized presents hanging on the walls. Definitely looks the part. We were greeted right away and our reservation for a specific table was fulfilled. Thank you. Our waiter was very good but, you could tell almost immediately, that the wait-staff was stressed. After observing for a while, I believe that they could have used one more person to help out and that became evident over the course of our meal. We brought our own wine as we have a New Year 's Eve favorite and the waiter addressed that quickly. Brought us glasses and uncorked it right away. But when we asked for water as well, that took a little longer. For the meal, they did offer both their main menu and three prix fixe meal options. We both decided for the $69 option which came with a soup AND salad, main course and a dessert. Th Caesar salad had a nice flavor to it but could have used just a little more zing if you know what I mean. The lobster bisque was served with carrot slices on top which I thought was odd. But, what was worse was that it was served lukewarm. That was a sign we should have paid attention too. This is where the wait-staff could have used one more person, a cleaner and/or fixer to pick up orders as soon as they were ready and to clean off dishes as soon as guests were done. We finished our soups and salads (both brought at the exact same time) and then...waited... It took quite a while for the main courses to arrive and, when they did, they were not hot. Prime rib, lamb, mac cheese...all, not hot and some, like the mac cheese was cool. Which tells me they were sitting for that extended period of time while we were waiting. Out of space."

"The evening started with the most gracious host Shawn his friendly side-kick, Keenan. We were seated in what the hosts called “the best table in the restaurant,” and it was for my wife’s Birthday celebration. Our waitress, Janet, wasted no time to greet us with menus took our drink order it was simply a H20 evening. We ordered the Calamari right away and it arrived quickly. The dish is not your typical calamari app. It’s tossed in a lite not too heavy, flavorful sauce, along with arugula. We squeezed the large grilled 1/2 lemon it came with all over the plate, and all the flavors meshed perfectly. The only problem was, several of the calamari rings stuck together, which changed the texture and made eating it an adventure separating all the pieces. Chefs cooks in the kitchen: PLEASE look into this because this should not happen, and we chose not to complain because we did not want to create any negative Birthday vibes. Another disappointment was when we ordered the tuna sashimi app, but they were “sold out” at 7:30pm on a holiday weekend? We were really looking forward to that but were letdown. MANAGEMENT: please increase your tuna order. It’s summer time and cold apps are very popular. For my entree, I ordered the Braised Short Ribs. Soft tender and excellent. When meat like that cuts with a fork, you know it’s great quality. In addition, the creamy polenta was outstanding and it went perfectly with the dish. I’m a major vegetable snob, and the rainbow root carrots, asparagus, and leeks were cooked just right and the entire dish was well executed. My wife ordered the Scallops and she enjoyed the scallops but she didn’t really care for how it was seasoned nor how the dish was prepared, and she thought the crispy onions on top didn’t pair well with seafood at an Italian place. The desserts were outstanding Italian Cake with a bday candle and those donut thingies The service was on point we never felt rushed. Thanks team North Italia."
