"When you walk in and the restaurant is packed, and you're the only gringo there, you know you've come to the right place. Other than pupusas, you're probably not that familiar with Salvadoran food. Honestly, although it's not that common a cuisine, it's not crazy strange. There's pork, steak, chicken, and shrimp dishes, rice, beans, and other really good food. You should absolutely try the pupusas. They're basically hot pockets filled with meat or shrimp or cheese or beans or some combination of the above. They're fantastic and very filling so don't overdo it. But do try the Revuelta, the one with pork, beans and cheese. It's excellent. The Pollo en Crema entree is outstanding. You get a huge piece of chicken in cream sauce. The chicken is incredibly tender and it's a wonderfully homey dish. For spice lovers, try the Camarones Pocosos (shrimp swimming with bell peppers in a spicy red sauce). It's very good. The entrees come with Salvadoran tortillas which are definitely not Mexican tortillas. The Salvadoran ones are much, much thicker and very dense. They've got beer and wine but the horchata (again, a little different than the Mexican version), and the sweet and almost syrupy Ensalada (almost like a nonalcoholic Sangria) are both good choices. Service was terrific. Our server knew the menu inside and out. This is excellent food and you get a ton of it. Did I mention the prices are extremely reasonable? No wonder they were absolutely jammed on a Saturday night. Don't think you can stroll in any time and grab a table. They are popular for good reason. Free street parking. You may have to walk a block or two."

"The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite go-to restaurant when I want reliable, consistent, and quality tasting food along with unrivaled service. As I've mentioned in my other ten or so Cheesecake Factory reviews, I typically opt for the cobb salad, which, even if not entirely up to par, is always better than most other salads I order elsewhere. In the case of this restaurant, my salad wasn't as I would have liked, but it was, as I've stated, still better than most. This particular Cheesecake Factory has way more ambiance than most. Located in Escondido, California, which adjoins San Diego, the weather here is spectacular. It allows this restaurant situated in the Westfield Shopping Center to have an extensive outdoor eating area to enjoy the weather, view, and fresh, clean air of Escondido while staying distanced from others during the pandemic. There is also a balcony, which is where we sat. I highly recommend you try and get the last table to the far end of the terrace when eating here; it's the best location throughout the restaurant, inside or out. On this particular day, the service was terrific; the bread, especially the black bread, was, as it always is, delicious. My wife's pasta was, in fact, better than my order on this day, so she threw me some shrimp and chicken to appease me. My cobb salad was good, not great, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere, weather, and service from The Cheesecake Factory. RECOMMENDED: Highly SERVICE: Good to excellent PRICE: COVID: Practices strict pandemic regulations. PARKING: Convenient but limited. REASON/INTENT: Early daylight dinner"

"That was a great disappointment. We haven't been on the border for a few years. Every time we start, they're busy... but we like small family restaurants more than Chains, but we remembered how great their chips and salsa were, so we tried yesterday. We started with a BORDERITA, Lunazul Reposado, Gran Gala Orange liqueur and fresh citrus sour. LIMIT TWO... because they have more tequila in them. We swear you could taste a hint of Tequila on the first sip... then nobody. It was a terrible margarita! And... the taste was terrible. They brought the chips and they're nothing like those we remembered and loved. The new chips are super thin corn tortillas cut in quarters or halves. They're big chips, but Bland. Salsa is still very good. We both ordered the SOUTHWEST COMBO. It has a Southwest Chicken Taco, a Carnitas enchilada and a mini chicken Chimi scattered in Border Queso. Served with Mexican rice and choice of beans. After 35 minutes wait... Sarah returned to the table to tell us that they have lost our order in the kitchen... but... they have ice-cold and it has now been cooked. 20 minutes later... the food came cool and coagulated. Sarah apologized and said they removed one of the meals from the bill for the delay. And they did. Of course the food would have been better. But even served It was a bad excuse for good Mexican food. Chicken Taco had fried onion rings. No taste profile that worked for one of us. The Carnitas enchilada was the next thing on the plate approaching edible. But... the cheese upstairs wasn't hot anymore... and he was coagulated. The Mini Chicken Chimi had no chicken in it... it was cheese. The Queso where she was supposed to have been crushed was served on the side... it was tasty... but coagulates with a skin on the top... and not even warm. I replaced my BORDERITA with a 22 oz Coor's light design It was ice cold and delicious. We think the reason they're always busy is the alcohol prices are very fair. The service was friendly and well meant. It wasn't Sarah's fault that the kitchen lost the order... but the additional delay and cold food that arrived was just not a good experience. We'll never be back."
