"Nori’s Special Loco Moco is a fresh hamburger patty (no frozen patties here) topped with brown gravy, two sunny side eggs (or your choice of egg) on sticky rice and served with one scoop mac salad. This is the best Loco Moco in town! You can taste the love that goes into every component of this dish. The hamburger patties are homemade and hand-formed with fresh ground beef, diced onions and seasonings. They are plump and juicy. The gravy is homemade too. You can see the beef specks and dripping inside of the gravy as it lavishly covers the hamburger patty and soaks into the sticky rice. The mac salad was pretty good too. Thumbs up, way up! The Sizzling Salmon Plate comes with tossed salad, and two scoops of rice. Salmon was bathing and sizzling in a sesame teri (teriyaki) glaze with pickled veggies on top. The flavor combination was phenomenal! The salmon was perfectly cooked and it was tender like butter. This is both a hearty and healthy dinner. Thumbs up, way up! Cut roll sushi of varying flavor as also available served tapas-style. Cooked tuna, tamago (Japanese-style sweet omelet), and pickled vegetables are rolling into sticky rice and enveloped by a sheet of nori (dried seaweed). I typically only eat sashimi-type sushi, but this was pretty good. The flavor combination was good with the seasoned tuna, the sweetness from the egg, and the sourness from the pickled vegetables. Keeps your tastes buds on their toes! Thumbs up! Dessert? If you’re not too full, Nori’s has daily desserts that are scrumptious indeed. The Banana Cream Pie is homemade cream with fresh bananas. The cream was so decadent, a cross between vanilla pudding and custard. Being in the tropics, Hawaiian bananas are fresh and sweet (volcanic soil adds a lot of flavor boosting components to every fruit that is grown on these islands). This blows Marie Callendar’s version out of the water. Thumbs up, way up! Nori’s Famous Chocolate Mochi Cake is topped with vanilla ice cream and thin chocolate chip mochi cookies broken into large bark-like pieces. It was presented like 5-star restaurant dessert with a 5-star taste. It’s no wonder why everyone comes back to the mainland with a few of these cakes to store in the freeze. They are da bomb! Thumbs up, way up! Nori’s had special Loco Mocos on certain days of the week. Roasted Pork Loco Moco is a daily special on Saturdays. The roasted pork was thinly sliced and tender (no knife required) and served with all of Nori’s Loco Moco ingredients. There’s nothing better when eating this on the beach with a light sea breeze blowing, the scent of the salted sea, and the sound of the waves crashing onto shore. Thumbs up, way up!"

"If you are looking for a chic food, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for authentic, tasteful Thai food with the freshest ingredients, then don't miss this place. We originally wanted to dine over the street in the nearby restaurant. But waiting was too long, so we decided to try this Thai restaurant. And we didn't regret it!! Everything was cheap. The curry was probably 11.95 and the fresh catch of the day was 14.95. We ordered the fried tofu, seafood red curry, fresh catch (fish) of the day and the larvae pig. The seafood curry was very tasteful and the taste was very balanced, not too sweet and not too spicy. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. There were large shrimps and Squid and Scallop. For the fish of the day, we can still make it that we want. And the fish was mahi mahi. We wanted the Mahi mahi to be cooked with eggplants and sweet basil. Man! Super fresh and delicious! The Larb pig was a ground pork roast with onions, fish sauce, lime and probably lemongras and fragrant leaves. Honestly, I'm doing them at home, but they did it better than me. You can also do Larb chicken or beef if you don't like pigs. But personally, I find pork the best. I'm from California and we have so many Thai restaurants. But I think Hilo Siam is so far one of the best I've ever been, partly because of the fresh ingredients that we're probably unable to get there. I also think they are really well prepared. If I ever return to Big Island, I'm sure I'll go back!"
