"It was gloomy and raining in Lachen. My wife and I needed to eat out and we went through the usual restaurants that we like in and around Lachen: Oliveras in Lachen, Johannisburg in Altendorf both closed on Monday, Schiff in Pfaffikon but everyone w2ould be crowded inside because of rain and so many restaurants closed on Monday.Last September we had eaten in the garden at Postli on Mittlerebahnofstrasse (the street often closed at one end because of building the new railway station.) We found it quite pleasant. So a 10 minute walk in the rain and we arrived at 12:10 PM to find that only 6 seats remained unoccupied in the restaurant. The room is bright, nicely art nouveau influenced decor with high ceilings, tables reasonably spaced. The patrons were a mix of bourgeois, well dressed ladies, stylish younger ladies doing selfies, unhurried business people all of whom engaged in pleasant but not loud conversations. It was not hard surfaced "Milano Modern" requiring ear plugs. The menu offered 5 choices for the day. Each choice included soup and salad and the main course. The fish menu of the day was Egli Filet accompanied by a potato gratin, and spinach saute'. My wife and I both love good Spinach with fish so this meant we both took the same menu choice so this evaluation is a bit narrow. The soup was a quite good consume', and an absolute super fresh diverse mix of salad greens with a delicious dressing. Great start. The main course arrived to our delight. The spinach as good as any this past yea. The potato gratin just delicious. The local Egli from Zuechersee not overdone. We chose a Chasselas from Lake Geneva which was just right with the fish. The wine list has a most thoughtful selection of whites from many of the wine districts of Switzerland as well as a couple from Germany and Austria. .We divided a homemade Tira Misu which was also very good. The prices are very fair for the quality. The service was efficient as the restaurant eventually was totally filled. One swallow does not make a Springtime make. But Postli is a 10 minute walk for us, so it may become our go to lunchtime date in Lachen."
