"It is unfortunate that my recent experience with this place has declined from the last. The best part of my August 7, 2023 visit was our chef. He was very personable, and did his food preparation with skill and precision. So what went wrong? Firstly, the miso soup had a peculiar taste, almost as though the water was sitting for a while before it was used. The salad dressing lacked luster and thickness, as though it was watered down to preserve cost. What was mostly disheartening was an 18% service charge was added to the entire bill. When I called the host/manager over to question this, she had mentioned there was a sign in front that indicated the charge would be added to hibachi orders. I did not see this sign when I walked in, so it was not obviously apparent, but I felt it was nervy to provide an additional line on the bill for a tip, after the service charge was applied. Did they actually expect to double dip me on the tip? The irony was, I would have given the chef a 20% gratuity on my own, but I resented having that decision made for me. The amount I paid for this lack of quality was way too high. It 's a shame because this was once my favorite hibachi place. Using the pandemic as an excuse does not fly anymore.
