"My wife and I wanted to find a new restaurant to try and we came across a gem of a place that just may be one of the counties best kept secrets. It's called Josh's Kitchen. It's location is a bit tricky to find, as it is located inside the Parkside Tavern, in Pearl River, NY. So when your GPS places you in front of the Parkside Tavern, you're in the right place, just know that the restaurant is inside. Now for the good part: While browsing through the menu we were treated to a free sample appetizer, it was a plantain Tostone with tender pulled pork and a delicious homemade garlic mango sauce on top. What a pleasant surprise. We were then treated to a nice bowl of soup, that consisted of chicken and potatoes and lots of cilantro. If you don't like cilantro, they will give you a bowl without it. The soup was very tasty. My wife ordered the special, which consisted of large coconut shrimp, chorizo with grilled onions, tostones and white rice.I ordered the Josh's special platter, which was a sampler like platter, that consisted of grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, grilled chicken, and grilled shrimp, chorizo, a cheese arepa, white rice and yucca fries. I also ordered a side of beans to go with the rice.My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal, the coconut shrimp were perfect, not too flaky on the coconut and paired extremely well with the homemade garlic mango sauce, which you could pretty much put on everything. The chorizo was great, the rice and tostones, were a perfect complement to her meal. My platter was also delicious, the steak was seasoned perfectly and the chimichurri sauce was just right and not overwhelming. The grilled shrimp has a nice flavor and not dried out. The chorizo was good, as was the cheese arepa, which I never had before. The grilled chicken was a bit dry, but tasty, and the rice and yucca fries made for a near perfect meal experience.I don't normally write food reviews, so please forgive any grammatical errors or if I wasn't descriptive enough in this review.I was inspired by the great food and graciousness of the people involved in making our dinner such a pleasant experience. I had promised to write a review for them and I'm a man of my word. With all that said, I would definitely recommend Josh's Kitchen, if you love Colombian food, or if you want to try it, you won't be disappointed."
