"Went to dinner last night for restaurant week however we all decided to do the top shelf option which is the reg all you can eat price. Everything was good, how ever because of it being restaurant week and a weekend, it was super busy. We first was sat at the round table right as you enter and in the walk way. It was awkward being there, sat right as there’s traffic in and out and servers walking through. Congested and people all around you. So we asked to be moved. Our server Joaquin was top tier!! He explained everything and he checked to see if we could move. He came back and said he found another table for us. When we got to the other table he explained we could upgrade to top shelf meats or do the restaurant week pricing and not get the 4 bottom options cuts of meat. Again, we all upgraded. Right as he was explaining everything the rest of the party arrived, two more. So there was a total of five of us. Once he took our drink orders and placed them in, he went back to his section. Let’s just say our table had no idea who our server was the whole time sitting there until we had to pay. It was annoying bc I had to keep asking for cheese bread, they brought it once and never came around again. When I asked to whom ever came over to bringing the meats or asked how things were, they would say yes. 30 mins later is when I asked a 3rd time and got them shortly after. Some of the cuts of meats never made it to our table, like the pork ribs and some of the sirloins. We didn’t get to try the cheese with honey either. Before we left we had to request for the grilled pineapple because again it never made it around to our table. My favorite cut of meat tonight would have been the garlic beef, tenderloin, and ribeye. I had the cap of the ribeye!! My favorite part. Also I enjoyed the Alfredo at the hot food section of the bar a lot. I went back for seconds however when I went to get a small week the second time, I wasn’t as good as the first time. I’m guessing they refilled it bc that time it didn’t taste a flavorful as the first time. Three of us ordered drinks, I enjoyed the spicy margarita but the house drink, Caipirinha was very bitter. I couldn’t drink it because of the bitterness from the limes. I did force myself to drink it because I’m paying for it. Will not order again. Overall experience, everything was good. I wouldn’t come back during restaurant week or peak hours. I only wished our server at the new section where we got moved would have came to our table and introduced himself and took care of us. Like I mentioned before, none of us knew who our server was, for a minute there we were still waiting for Joaquin. Lol. But I had to think about that we moved sections and he was no longer our server. Although we didn’t know our server and who did serve us, we still all tipped our part and I myself walked over to Joaquin and gave him a tip myself for being so awesome, attentive, and engaging. One of the best servers I’ve had at a Brazilian steakhouse. Hoping to go back and sit in Joaquin’s section. I know he will definitely take care of us and be attentive."

"I recently checked out Red Cow on Selby in Saint Paul, and this place was a vibe! I never knew it had two floors, so it was pretty nice to dine on the second floor for my date—it was a bit quieter up there. I started off with the ahi crisps, which were sooooooo good! I was tempted to order a second round, but I realized I had to save space for the burger. I don't recall the exact burger I had, but I remember the bacon on it was delicious! This location was great overall. Parking can be challenging sometimes since it's street parking, but I’d definitely go back!"

"I visited a week ago with my friend and daughter (who is a vegetarian) my friend recommended it because we were getting hungry after church. It was our friend time there and his first time eating in while there. The waitress , Joy Y was so friendly and helpful she shared that she is also a vegetarian and she made the recommendation of the Coconut Milk Soup with mock duck as a hotpot. There were so many menu options to choose from and you could change most meals to vegan and vegetarian friendly which i loved!! When the soup came it was beautifully presented in a hot pot. It was delicious and came with enough to completely fill the three of us. In addition we ordered the fried tofu and some fresh spring rolls. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore! Everything came out quickly and they put up with my busy 4 year old and even let me charge my phone! They brought by a Boba sample plate to keep my daughter entertained! Great service! Affordable! And delicious! I would definitely go back and I am recommending this place to my friends."

"Stopped into Barrio on a Wednesday over the lunch hour. It took 15 minutes to just grab someone’s attention to get service me at the bar. When we did finally stop someone she was annoyed we stopped her and was not very pleasant for the rest of our 45 minutes there. We ordered a drink, and shortly later order chips and salsa. After 20 minutes of the chips and salsa not coming out we just paid for our drink and left. It was clear they didn’t know how to run lunch service and the importance of speed over the lunch hour. Between that and the number of fruit flies buzzing around — won’t be coming back."

"We came here for our anniversary and had never been before. We where hoping to have an amazing meal based off the reviews we had read about this place. We where blowen away with the price and lack of taste. Not the mention the cook I seen in the kitchen that licked his fingers and kept working with out washing his hands. The food is family size portions that you can share with like 4 people, but has no flavor unless you count the taste of cheap tomato sauce. We will not be going back."

"I’ve lived in this area my whole life and have never stopped here, which I have discovered was a mistake, because WOW this place is amazing! The employee that took my order was very sweet and answered my probably goofy “first-timer” questions without judgement. The food was very tasty, and the atmosphere is nice! I haven’t explored the whole space but I saw the patio out back and it’s gorgeous, and the main level is great too, but it’s a little noisy for my liking personally. But I think there is also an upper level that I haven’t seen that is likely more quiet as it is away from the kitchen. I ordered the toasted four cheese sandwich and chickpea and spinach soup, pictured (with the soup partially eaten because I couldn’t wait to try it in my review."

"We gave this restaurant 45 years of our business. Over the years we occasionally wrote or emailed them including our telephone number and some comments or suggestions. Never once did they respond. After their fire last year they said that they would keep their customers updated on their remodeling progress. We have stopped occasionally to check what is happening at the restaurant. It is still an empty shell after about 8 months. And their communication, like always, CRICKETS! Why would I expect different? Thats how much they care about their faithful customers. They are giving us what they believe that they owe us. NOTHING! What is so sad, is that if they are having a problem with the remodeling, there are those of us that would have actually volunteered to help them in different ways. If only they would have communicated with us. Would it really be that hard for them to post an update on a piece of paper in the window? Or to post an update on the Internet somewhere? Maybe 5 minutes of their time each month. But even after their failure to communicate with their customers, we still wish them the best!"

"Tipping is optional. It is not mandatory. When the waitress asked, and wanting us to tip, it made it so awkward. "Former food writer/professionally trained cook here. I don 't often leave reviews and I hate writing negative ones but I ordered takeout last night and a friend picked up on his way so I can 't speak to the service or atmosphere but in terms of the food itself I was really disappointed in the chicken chow mein. (Chow mein is in their name so I was thinking I should try it, ya know? The chicken looks like some sort of processed chicken with an almost spongy texture. My friend and I both gave the chow mein a fair shot and both of us stopped eating it after the first few bites. The sauce was too gelatinous (too much cornstarch? and it was literally just chicken and celery. Maybe it was an off night or they ran out of some ingredients but I tossed basically a full container of the chow mein. The kung pao beef was barely spicy and there were no whole dried chilies in it like most preparations call for, and even the kung pao photo on their online ordering menu shows dried chilies in the mix. The veg low mein was the best out of the three dishes but the noodles we got weren 't lo mein noodles; they were more like thread noodles/rice vermicelli like in Singapore noodles. It 's kind of misleading to use completely different noodles than what is called for. I don 't think I will be back. If it were just one bad entree I wouldn 't be writing this review but the chow mein was pretty unappetizing, the kung pao was so so and not what you 'd expect from kung pao, and the lo mein was decently flavorful but also kind of disappointing because it 's not the right noodle? Personally I get low mein because I like the density/chew of those noodles and these weren 't it. It was a very weird rendition of all three dishes and I don 't eat out/order take out often so it 's just pretty disappointing when most of the meal just isn 't what one would expect given what the dishes are supposed to be, and there are mostly good reviews online. Sigh."

"Recommend coming here! Awesome food. Meat loaf: has ketchup cooked really well on it. Good Maillard reaction on all sides. Seasoned super good, meatloaf was moist and not dry. 5/5 Mashed potatoes served with meatloaf: Seasoned just right. Slightly buttery in a good way. Peas served on top of potatoes were cooked perfectly. They were not overcooked and mushy. Crisp and delightful peas! 5/5 Mushroom rigatoni: seasoned super good. Can taste the mushroom. The cheese used with this dish very savory and compliments the mushrooms. 5/5 Beat salad: excellent. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Similar if you’ve had it at other restaurants. Not complaining. 5/5 Squash tart: really really good. Wish I could make this for breakfast everyday. Pastry/ tart was fluffy and flaky. Had slight aromatic taste (I think sage) wasn’t overpowering, really enjoyed this. 5/5 Drinks: partner had a pink pony and pretty in peach. She liked the pink pony more than the pretty in peach! Service: was good! It was busy. It took awhile to get menus after we were seated (like 20 minutes). We started to look at their online menu. We had to wait to be seated, but that isn’t an issue. They will text you when they are ready after checking in. 4/5."

"We came in for lunch and waited quite a while before asking where are server is so we can order our food. Also, when I asked for hot water the server didn’t understand me and had to get someone else. I order the egg drop soup and it is not what you would expect. Not the usual thick egg drop soup you would get at a Chinese restaurant. The taste was good enough. The pai thai was pretty good other than noodles breaking a lot. Not long noodles. Along came the beef salad. Very little beef cut up tiny pieces and lots and lots of red onion in the mix. Lettuce in the side, not a bed of lettuce. Lastly, the banh xeo. It’s not whole shrimp, it cut up into small little pieces and lots on bean sprout. They don’t give you all the sides that a Vietnamese original dish would. Overall rating was okay. I wouldn’t go again though. Not authentic enough for a true Asian food eater. Not Asian spicy as well."

"One of my favorite restaurants in all of the twin cities. The food is very very very good with my favorites being the PAD KEE-MOW, yellow curry, and red curry. Lol, the yellow curry is so good I struggle to try other foods on the menu and not just get the curry. The service is also very good, when I went in with a friend with allergies the owner came out and walked us through the foods and which were ok for them to eat."

"Been going to Cafe Latte for years and very frequently during the pandemic. I like a simple sandwich and yesterday had a tasty panini. Food is always good. The staff could be friendlier. Not that they are unfriendly, exactly, but there is hardly a Thank you or Enjoy the rest of your day. Ever. The staff at just about every locally owned restaurant we patronize makes it a point to communicate that they appreciate our patronage--except this one. I guess I miss it when we don 't get that personal acknowledgement. The gentleman who I assume is the manager might tell us it 's time to leave at, say, 5:57, but even then there is no goodbye. I don 't expect to be fawned over, but just a bit of friendliness goes a long way. I 'm surprised at how much of a difference it makes."

"Had special half price wings. Group of 4 of us everyone else had ribs and chicken special. Other 3 had dri ks from the bar and I had a coke. After my 3rd coke was told I will be charged for more pop if I wanted another. Guess times are hard for this place. If they can't offer more than 3 pops for price of one. I wouldn't go back food was sub par and just knowing every place else I go I have up to 5 glasses of pop on these hot days with my meal. If I do beer I am over my limit to drive. Just how I feel good luck Big 10....I won't be back."
