"Today's review will not be great. Our experience tonight was not Ganz Ok I come to Wilhelmshaven at least once a year to visit my mom. Every year, I want to go to Le Patron. We have visited this restaurant on more than one occasion...since it first opened. The restaurant location is gorgeous. There is a beautiful view of the Kaiser Wilhelm bridge at the front and the Jadebusen in the back. Additionally, there is outdoor seating and a lovely winter garden with typical Strandkörbe (beach baskets) used as part of the seating. Overall, the restaurant decor is quite nice. Now for the important part, the food. As I said, I really look forward to coming to #LePatron each summer. We arrived at Le Patron tonight about 7:20. It was fairly busy and the owner was greeting customers and made every effort to seat us quickly. No issues there. We ordered our food, which consisted of 3 entrees: 1. Champignon Rahm Schnitzel 2. The daily menu which consisted of a Krabben Soup, Rumpsteak Caesar and a Creme Brûlée 3. Fisch Teller, which consisted of 3 different fish, a shrimp, and potatoes, plus a dinner salad. My disappointment stems from a few things that I feel could be easily corrected should the owner pay attention to the concerns of his customers. As it was busy, I did not think too much that our food might take a while to be prepared. So, we were pleasantly surprised that the soup for the menu arrived shortly after ordering. As only one person ordered a first course, we thought that the rest of the food would begin to come out a bit after. The soup was great and once gone, we waited, and waited, and waited. This has never been the case at Le Patron before. We have had to wait a normal amount of time for things to be prepared but not 35 minutes from first course for one to main course for all three. Once the food arrived, it all looked lovely. The concern was with the seafood entree. The fish plate cost 18.95 (Euro), which considering the location, may be a bit on the high side but not extreme. My problem, which I noted last year (but apparently forgot) is that the fish portions are small and overcooked. The salmon looks like it took a trip to hell and back before reaching my plate. It resembled salmon that sits for hours on end at a bad buffet. The other fish was also overcooked, while the potatoes were not hot. NEXT: the salad that accompanied the dinner for the steak menu was a Caesar salad. To start with, the entire core (Salat Strunk) was left in the salad. This is not the part of lettuce that a customer wants to eat. To make matters worse, there was far too much dressing for a Caesar salad and it overpowered the salad. We did inform our waitress, who said that the salad core/stalk, should not have been in there. She offered us a coffee for our troubles, which we accepted. The waitress then asked if there was anything else that she could bring us. We said yes, the dessert that comes with the menu we ordered. She laughed and said, oh yes! I will put that in for you I had some of my coffee, thinking I would drink the rest with the dessert. That was at 8:45. We waited, and waited, and waited. While we were waiting we heard the table next to us also telling the waitress how dissatisfied they were with the food, to include the fish platter (the same one I ordered). Still waiting for the dessert, at 9, 9:10, 9:15...finally 35 minutes later, 35 MINUTES later, it arrived. I was beginning to wonder if they had gone to France to get the dessert. We were finally able to flag down the waitress. I felt bad for her at this point, taking the brunt of the complaints for what seems to be poor kitchen/staff management. We asked what took so long and she just kind of smiled and said she would pass on our comments. She offered to give us a liqueur as a gesture of good will. For 80 Euros, I would rather have a decent meal that comes out of the kitchen in a timely manner, with an attentive waitstaff that pays attention to detail. While a restaurant may bring in initial clientele based on its location, repeat customers do not come back if the food is mediocre and the service is so-so."
