This was such a bummer for me because I've been to their mystic location a few times and enjoyed it. I came to the Guilford location last year and had a solid meal although the service was slow then as well. But at least we were served. We had a reservation last week which we ended up not needing because there were not many people. We were seated outside and then waited 15 minutes. No one came to our table once besides to hostess who gave us water. We are not people to get up and leave but we were being passed by constantly and it got to the point where it was insulting so we got up and left. Chapter One in Guilford CT is a mediocre American restaurant fronting as an upperclass bistro. They pull off the facade because of their attractive patio space and downtown Guilford location. Their food is okay at best. For certain items, the prices are just on the edge of being overpriced considering the lack of quality. Their avocado toast was 1 thin slice of avocado per piece of toast. They were running out of avocado and didn’t mention that until after the food was delivered.
