"Wife and I went Friday evening. Plenty of parking available with maybe the best view in Hiawassee. No kidding!! The view was so incredible a few years ago that I made it my Screensaver...and it still gets comments. That view made me want to live here so we retired to the mountains because of the view out the front window of HWBBQ CH. True story. The restaurant is spacious with outside tables that are worth waiting for on a warm day. The menu focuses on aforementioned BBQ Catfish but has other items like Country Fried Steak, Smoked Turkey, Smoked Italian Sausage, Fried Shrimp Smoked Chicken Wings. I had the BBQ Pork Plate with 2 sides Carolina Slaw vinegar-based) Baked Beans) and Wife had the Crispy Catfish filet. The pulled pork plate is legit BBQ! Nice bark w/ a proper smoke ring and juicy pork...and plenty of it. Enough for a 2nd meal. The Baked Beans were really tasty as well. I got them on the recommendation of our waitress who said they use their house BBQ sauce to make it. Great advice on her part and great service for our meal. The Carolina Slaw was oily and had an odd off flavor. Some of the slaw looked limp. Normally I like vinegar based slaw but this was the one criticism I had about my meal. My wife's Catfish was good but she thought the fish could have been just a bit more crispy. She got the Collard greens and liked them and we both liked the acclaimed hushpuppies. Great meal, great service, and as I said...great view!"

"We were really looking forward to a great breakfast during our visit to the area. Although it was a big disappointment for me. My country fried steak was a frozen patty that was undercooked. My gravy was powdery and not homemade, my biscuit also came from a frozen bag, my orange juice was sour and had to send it back. The couple that we dined with had to ask for things ordered more than once. By the time they got them their other food it was cold. It was freezing in the dining room all around bad experience."

"This place is going down down down. Absolutely a disgrace. The owner’s would be very disappointed. This place made 3 out of 4 of us sick. All on the ice cream side. Had to tell them 3 times our order. Just a disgrace. As locals we are done with this place!!!!"

"Our server Shamil was the saving grace of this location. He was better than most servers in midtown and did his best to accommodate us. However, the restaurant itself is giving mixed signals on what they’re trying to provide as far as experience goes. The food was tasty, elevated, and we had no complaints. At the time we came in, while there were over a dozen people, only four others were customers. All of the staff was crowded around where we were sitting, having several loud intermingling conversations and one of their younger children was crawling on the floor underneath the barstools. We have zero problems with kids but it just seems like a weird message to send out to your customers when the restaurant seems to be geared to fun elevated. We were hoping for an intimate and modern experience but what we got was boisterous and uncouth. The place has potential, but is definitely less of an “experience” and more of a hangout."
