"Friends took us here... Rumored to be the best dim sum in Philly, we had to try it. Came on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Wasn't that crowded and we were seated on time. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was decent, but not the best dim sum we've had. Portions are pretty big, though. Located in University City, the restaurant has a few different seating areas, including a bar/lounge on the ground floor, and another bar upstairs with a pool table."

This one was suggested by my cousin. Dishes we are are eggplant fry, Singapore noodles, chicken and mushroom dumplings, veg pancake, and pepper chicken fry. All of the dishes are amazing and less expensive. Interior is so good and welcoming. One should try this restaurant, if u like asian food.

Very good. Nice variety of Dim Sum choices. The soup dumplings were the only disappointment. They were luke warm and did not contain any soup . The rest of my dishes were really good. Garlic pickled cucumbers had a lot of pungent garlic on them. Honey vinegar spare ribs were delicious. Tofu in Black Bean sauce was perfectly prepared. Huge pot of steaming hot Chrysanthemum Tea was a perfect compliment to my meal.

Dim Sum House by Jane G's, located near Penn University Campus, is an excellent choice for a fair priced and reliably good meal! Enjoyed a few Dim Sum choices along with Honey Vinegar Spare Ribs and topped off with Jasmine Tea for a fullfilling lunch. Alcoholic beverages available as well as many non alcoholic choices. The seating area is comfy and roomy enough as it does get busy at times. Overall, a really good choice for a quick meal in the University area.

"We were there celebrating two birthdays. Our server Faith was wonderful. She was attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a table of 6 and ordered quite a bit of food, some of which was great and others lackluster. The bao buns were great and the small calamari salad was huge and those who had it said delicious. The spareribs were good as well as the edamame dumplings, although the way those were served made it hard to fully enjoy. Each dumpling should be on a individual type spoon so you can enjoy the soup part as well as the dumpling. The way they were served in one large bowl with only one spoon made it so the soup part is left at the bottom. I did request extra spoons from the expediter but they never came. The worst part of our appetizer course was somehow an item was switched to another in the computer and served to us. It had shellfish in it and that wasn’t known when someone at our table who doesn’t eat shellfish ate it. The sashimi was good but the tuna tartare thing was really bad. The entrees we had were the duck, which I was told was delicious, the miso cod, which was fishy, the whole fish which was tasteless, the lobster fried rice, which was okay but lacking flavor. The best dish was the black pepper beef, it was delicious and elegantly served. We had all the sides and all were quite good especially the eggplant and the wasabi mashed potatoes. It was a nice evening but it felt a little stale for a Starr restaurant."
