"What happened to the old Penny's Noodle Shop??? The original that started in Chicago on Roscoe Ave and on Diversey Avenue. I don't know if the ownership changed hands or what but this place is not the same and it's truly sad. Penny's Noodle Shop used to be so popular in the city and this one in Northfield used to be pretty much the same as the downtown locations. Now they've changed their menu and the dishes that were on the old menu are not the same. Flavor and freshness is lacking and whatever seasoning they are doing tastes off. A little small compared to the Chicago Penny's, but would go again. We got the Lad Nar, Roasted Pork, and Vietnamese Spring Rolls. So good!!!Food: 5/5

I had the pad Thai and gyoza today and it was fantastic! I used to visit Penny's restaurant in the city, but I had forgotten about their Northfield location. It was a pleasant surprise to rediscover PNS! It brought back some great nostalgic memories. I will definitely be returning in the future.

We decided to try something different for dinner tonight and were pleasantly surprised. Normally, stir fry leaves me feeling heavy and sluggish, but not this time. The dish was delicious and not too salty or greasy. The vegetables were fresh, the protein was well seasoned, and the portions were generous. If you're in the mood for authentic, quality Asian food instead of overly Americanized salt bombs, this is the place to go. Highly recommended.
