"I love this cute neighborhood spot! I had to find a time to sample the crawfish boil-spiced fried chicken thigh biscuit (yes, you read that right) on my recent trip and it was certainly worth the effort.The fried chicken thigh is nestled inside a warm buttermilk biscuit topped with pimento cheese pepper jelly with their picnic pulp (magic pookie dust) sprinkled on top. Whew-wee!! This was a meal itself but also came with your choice of side. The fingerling potatoes were good, although I wish they were a bit crispier and slightly less of a portion. At the corner of State Street and Magazine Street is Picnic. Neat little bar with craft cocktails. The menu is a unique blend of traditional southern with Cajun infusion. The boudin egg rolls are incredibly spicy as a warning and very yummy. There is outdoor and indoor seating with some games for people to play on the sidewalk. After you feast walk it off strolling down Magazine street and hitting the shops and bars.

The food was absolutely delicious. I was quite surprised with the flavors and freshness of it all.It was a lot more expensive than i was anticipating$24 for the 5 pc chicken tender meal is wild. It is something you can share with another person if youre not too hungry. You get two sides and two biscuits.But overall, we spent $60 for the one meal and two drinks after tax and tip. Not quite what i was expecting for such a casual atmosphere and take away style spot.But i would visit it again, just not frequently .

I have been driving by this corner place for a year, and finally took the time to dine with my family. We have heard so much about it. Cute and clean establishment, we sat outside. Slightly pricey, but staff was friendly, and the food was pretty good. Surprisedly however; with such a great food selection (limited but great , you would think though, that there was a kids menu. NONE! Staff recommended the mild tenders and potatoes, which is crawfish spiced battered, our toddler even tried a few things from our plate, but wasn 't impressed with the soulful flare. Several families showed up after us, we counted 7 more kids and the family next to us were commenting on the lack of kid options too....
