"We have come to Thirsty Whale for many years as a family and always had amazing food and service! This time was special because my friend coordinated with my family to suggest me in Minocqua, then he surprised me with a dinner with our whole family in the whale! Ella, our server and the manager were exceptional!!! They were so helpful, friendly and excited for us. They took care of my family as if we were her family and made sure we had an absolutely perfect time. They allowed us to rebuild tables so that we could all be together, Ella even put my favorite music on the jukebox when we went to the restaurant! It was so special. Stop on a beer during snowmobiling. Good selection of local beers and your standard offers. Would like to hold back in summer. Bartenders were friendly and there were many seats.

Great staff and service with an AMAZING view if you are able to dinate on the docks! Wide selection of menu items. I had the annoyed grouper with Fritten, my son rarely had the annoyed Ahi Tuna Steak with Fritten! Both were amazing!!

Pretty good traditional American cuisine. Excellent burgers and sandwiches. Delicious crispy fries. Fresh tasting appetizers, nothing to blow your mind, but solid roasted Wisconsin farewell. Service was fast and friendly, despite very busy. The prices were acceptable and the shares were satisfactory. Was here twice and will probably come back.

"The service was attentive and the food arrived fast. The evening we dined wasn't busy at 6 pm. The pizza was lacking pizzaz. It seemed odd that pepper flakes and Parmesean cheese came in little foil packets. I guess its a cost saving measure. Good crust and plenty of toppings, however the sauce was lacking any zip or signature flavor. The restaurant was clean. Our party of 4 would likely dine here again next year. Food: 4"

"Was very disappointed in my meal . I had the special $22 had a bowl full of Tough and burnt ribeye and chicken a chunk of cheese that was COLD .. My dinner came I think they forgot to put in the order 10 15 Minutes after my families .Service was poor . My sister has a dryed out chicken burrito. But the beans and rice were good ."

"We often drive through Minocqua. Yesterday my children and I went through and decided to stop for a snack. While I corralled my children, I accidentally left my wallet on the property. I didn't know until this morning and I called her right away. Fortunately, one of their honest employees had found the wallet and put it in the safe. I could drive right away to pick it up. Thanks for keeping my wallet safe and for the great service!"

"My dad and I went today for the last Fish Fry of the year. We each ordered the $12.95 fish fry (2 fairly large pieces of beer battered deep fried fish about 1.5 x1 x5.5 and ordered an extra piece for an extra $2. With included fries and a bowl of clam chowder I could barely finish it all. Dad couldn't even eat all of his. The fish was excellent. Cooked perfectly and very mild flavor. The fries were solid. The chowder had good flavor but consistency was really thick, more like homemade jam than soup, which was a little off putting but in the end the solid flavor won out for me. Service was excellent. Really friendly, fun, and polite waitress who checked in with us frequently. Food came quickly. Atmosphere was Northwoods perfect. Very casual. The interior is all knotty pine and rustic. We were seated in a booth in the back with a perfect view of the lake behind the restaurant. Got to watch a gorgeous sunset as an eagle flew by (not making that up while we waited for our food. It was November, but there is a patio out back with horseshoe pits for summertime. There is a bar but we didn't take advantage of it. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and it was a great value. $33 for 2 meals and a beverage, plus another meal from the 2 pieces we took home as leftovers. Note: the place is obviously a burger joint first and foremost and had like 15 different burgers on the menu. Parking: Decent sized gravel lot with 2 handicap spaces. We went early so there was plenty of parking available. Wheelchair accessibility: Front door approach has both steps and a ramp.
