"Ended my day trip to Santa cruz at East End Gastropub! Started with the braised beef bao buns and the razzle dazzle cocktail. The buns were very soft and fluffy and the beef was very tender. However before I could even fully bite it, the folded part of the bun broke from the sogginess and the meat fell out. I wish it was a little less soggy and I wish there was a little more of an acidic factor to break through the weight of the bun and meat arugula wasn't quite enough . The razzle dazzle not pictured was bright and refreshing, however frothing particularly special. Marrakesh chicken: Really good. The meat was juicy and the lemon yogurt sauce paired really well with the flavors on the plate. Really solid dish 5/5 California Halibut: Unfortunately my halibut was overcooked : Although i didn't take a picture, the inside was very dry and made for a weird mouthfeel because it had to be chewed a lot more. The avocado crema was good and the corn salsa was very summery 3/5 because of the fish . Fries: Now THIS was the star of the show. My other two friends got entrees with fries and these were probably the best fries I've ever had. I believe they were beer battered, but the fry on them was fantastic. They weren't oily, they stayed crispy through the entire meal, and they were perfectly salted. I cannot stress enough how good the fries were 6/5!!! We didn't have to wait too long for the food and our server was very helpful. I really liked the interior and the volume wasn't too loud. Would come back for the fries :"

"I will lead with the core problem that it cost us $76 to bring a side of chips and guacamole, two entrees, and two drinks on cafeteria tablets that will bring them back to the table after their name is called over a microphone. back in boston, $76 is about what I would pay for a nice meal in a medium to a chic restaurant with table service. everything here is about $20-25 a teller and the taste and ambiente just don't just justify these costs. this place reminds me of cheesecake factory in theory and pricing, except for cheesecake factory, with its huge portion sizes and the $25 cost a plate, they also get table service, beautiful ambiente, and eating tastes good. yes, the portions are huge, but I don't want two meals in one that don't taste all that well while I'm on the go. it would help if they could order half portions to reduce food waste in cases where they can not bring the rest home. Nevertheless, $12.50 is more than I would have paid for half of the butternut quash ravioli I got. it looked and tasted like prepacked ravioli. I ordered it with a basilikum, garlic and olive oil sauce, and it didn't have much taste at all. it would have really used some salt and was altogether edible, but very embarrassing. I can deal with undersalted foods, but to be billed at this price-point and on the menu as “home-specificity”, the butternut-queash ravioli was really disappointing and an expensive mistake. my partner had a lot of luck with his enchiladas, but they weren't $25 a record good. it seems like a vegetarian restaurant, one of the things they rely on to make the taste good, is milk products, and not necessarily know how to compensate the lack of salt and taste when they are removed. I guess that's good and all for vegetarian, but on this same note I can be a cheese and sour looking at something slap and it tastes good. Why spend so much for it? I regret going here to my only meal in the santa cruz area. it was on this and cafe gratitude and both my partner and I agreed that this was not a good choice after breathing. If the cost were lower, I would not have had such high expectations and would have let a lot of these things slide. this would be a 1-star rating, but happy cow gives an automatic star for being fully vegetarian, so I can't rate this under 2 stars. I hope they improve their vegan cooking and are less dependent on milk for taste. updated by previous review on 2022-03-06"

"Great views, great food wonderful service! Constantly, it's a great time, every time I go!Menu has something for everyone. All eaters can find something here. My favorite is the gnocchi with the steak on the side. The bacon wrapped prawns are delicious with the 2 dipping sauces. The poke is amazing and comes with wanton chips and many different sauces. The Cesar Salad with white anchovies is absolutely amazing! Their calamari is delicious, the baked brie is also really tasty! The deep fried artichoke hearts are perfectly seasoned. My husband gets the prime rib 12oz, and the chefs always cook is to his liking, which is medium well. Great sides like trumpet mushrooms, creamed spinach, gratin, Brussel sprouts more! They give you fresh warm bread and whipped butter bread, and during your meal, don't be afraid to ask for more they are happy to give. The soups chowder are great! The desserts are always wonderful the drinks are plentiful. There are so many wine, beer cocktail options, and even mocktails for non drinkers.Great for families, they are super attentive with each guest of all ages! I've brought my daughter here, who is 2, they have a large kids menu, high chairs, coloring books even a treasure chest with a toy to choose from at the end. They have noodles, fries, chicken tenders, etc. Every time I've gone there's many families, children, teens, etc.Service 5 stars, especially from Andrew the waiter. He goes above beyond what it means to be an amazing server. He made sure everyone in his section was well taken care of.
