"To the Management team of Packers restaurant: My wife and I with our friends brought our 4 kids (under 2 years old) out to have a nice sunset dinner on Saturday night at the Packers restaurant. We both were celebrating anniversaries during the month of August and my wife and I actually were married at semiahmoo only a few years ago so we thought it was fitting we come out. We called and made reservations for inside and when we arrived we were greeted by a nice older lady who seemed to be pretty busy with other parties going on. We mentioned we needed a high chair and two boosters and we never ended up getting any boosters even after asking twice. Most of the night waters were rarely filled up and it took 20 minutes for our server to come back to take our orders. We ordered basic food, burger, pizza and our kids ordered some light food off the kids menu. We then proceeded to wait 55 minutes to get the food. At this point our kids were losing their minds. Usually restaurants will offer to bring the kids food first. This was not the case. We also had to ask multiple times what the status was on the food. Only to be told “it’s on its way” and then take another 20 minutes. When the food arrived, it was cold and they had messed up the pizza order we had. We had one of our friends order the vegetarian pizza and it came with chicken on top. We also ordered a side of chicken for the kids and they forgot to order that. The grilled cheese sandwich my son ordered was rock hard and cold. We let the busser know they messed up the pizza and kept quiet about the cold food. So he ordered a new pizza without chicken to come. When it finally came, it was UNCOOKED!!!! So bad. Absolutely unreal. Our server also was no where to be found during this time. Not to mention when we asked for the bill, it took an additional 15 minutes and then they added gratuity of 20 percent to it, even with a 1 month old and 3 under 2 years old. I have worked previously in fine dining as a server (over 7 years) and I know what it’s like to be busy. But to be honest, I was FLAT OUT APPALLED that one of the highest regarded resorts in Washington absolutely failed the hospitality level we have seen it deliver in years past. Again, my wife and I chose semiahmoo as a place to get married a few years ago because of its amazing quality and attention to details. This is not the only time we have eaten out here recently where the service and food was just bad. I am a business owner in town and I am keenly aware of how important quality reviews are to help the business grow and mature in a healthy light. And for the business to be challenged to be better. THIS IS MY CHALLENGE TO YOU. In order to better serve your guests. Please get better. Spend time training your cooks to master the art of cooking. Train up your sous chef’s and pantry line cooks and prep teams to understand they do noble work to impact people’s experience with food. Please help your servers, bartenders, bussers and hosts to showcase hospitality and hire hardworking people who can handle what the job demands. I would like to refer people to Semiahmoo but until this changes, my wife, kids and myself will not be back anytime soon. This saddens me and would like for it to be different but we just have had too many experiences recently where the guest service, hospitality and quality have been lacking. I would be more than happy to have another conversation to help with context but I hope you can refine systems and make this better."
