"We were in the main square of Königstein im Taunus waiting to catch the bus, when we realized that, on the opposite side, there was an Afghan restaurant. Intrigued by a cuisine we did not know, we therefore decided to have lunch at the Burg restaurant. Decorated with carpets, antique carved wooden columns and various Afghan objects the interior is elegant and welcoming. We ordered some meat dishes typical of Afghan cuisine: Mantu (Steamed dumplings stuffed with spicy minced meat, served with stewed yellow lentils, fresh coriander tomatoes and yoghurt sauce) and Lamm Spieß Kebab (Grilled lamb skewer with Afghan Qabuli Palau rice) as well as tasty Afghan bread. All dishes were delicious and enhanced by the typical Afghan flavors and smells based on a mix of spices and herbs. The following day we took the train and bus to have lunch there again. Again we found the lamb shank with various roasted vegetables and Qabuli rice delicious. Hamid, who has a long experience of cooking in high level restaurants, is not only an excellent cook but also a very affable and kind person. The atmosphere, the kindness, the good quality of the food and the delicious flavors of the Afghan dishes make it a highly recommended restaurant."
