"BBQ is pretty good, but not the best of the East. This was the first stop recently at our Eastern NC BBQ Quest For The Best Part One (including Ken 's Grill in La Grange, Wilber 's, Grady 's, McCall 's, Jack Cobb 's in Farmville and Holt Lake BBQ in Smithfield). At each stop we have a few fresh BBQ (sandwich or tablet) and bought some (also fresh) to take home varied quantities, here it was 1 pound. Like its neighbor on the street, Ken 's Grill, this small place serves only its NC Eastern style BBQ on Wednesday's Saturday. They are very proud of their BBQ front of the menu says: Home of the Best N.C. Style BBQ Pork Down East . This is a nice, funny place, and these are really nice people, but the BBQ is far, far from the best in the east, up or down. The hours are 4AM to 2PM, Mon Sat, so breakfast is a big thing here and they have a fairly wide menu (only served until 10am). Usual Egg Meat Options, Combos served with bars, choice of bread, jelly and coffee for example, 2 eggs with bacon is $4.99. Omelets, biscuit sandwiches, pancakes and something called Little Baltimore Waffles Little Baltimore is the name of the municipality where this small grill is located. Breakfast notes: Your breakfast offer does not include Liver pudding, but you can find a page of Rice Gravy for only $1.79. You have Daily Lunch Specials (like Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, Hamburger Steak, Grilled Chicken, Shrimp Plate, Spaghetti and of course BBQ on Wed Sat. Some interesting items on Sa, and only on Sa, you can order Ribs (in advance), and you can get 8 pounds of Potato Salad for $17.99, and 1 gallon of Cole Slav for the same price. Menus can make for interesting reading. The BBQ is not typical Eastern style in taste or colour. It is a little reddish brown in color (compared to Ken 's, B's, or Jack Cobb 's), and it is a sweeter tasting pig than most barbecue in the east. It is delicate, moist, with beautiful pieces from outside Brown, and is moderately chopped. This is mild tasting pig, and some people prefer it like that. Big BBQ plate with Slave, FF, HPs is $7.79. The claw is white, a little sweet, but nice with this grill. The FF are very, very nicely fried and well seasoned. The Hushpuppies are very delicious, but under the greasiest I've eaten the bag with fat through the time we got to the car. The hot dog here is excellent good chili flavor, beautiful rolls, red wine, but it is a very small hot dog, but then again, it costs only $1.09. They asked twice if I was sure I didn't want ketchup on my dog, and I assured them I didn't. Other menu comments of interest: NO SHARING FOOD (appears 3 times, must be a regular problem) PATIENCE WILL GREATLY APPRECIA ON BBQ DAY 's WE COOK BBQ PIGS TURKEYS for CUSTOMERS But, good people, it is worth when in the area."
