"We had been to this restaurant space before when it was a different restaurant and the atmosphere felt really alive, which is why I chose it for our anniversary dinner this year. Unfortunately we sat down on the lower level and it really just felt like something was missing from the surroundings. We were there quite early (6PM) because we wanted to take in a “ghost walk” that was meeting outside the restaurant at 7:30. I sent an earlier text to the restaurant and was told this wouldn’t be a problem. We were seated right away and our pre-dinner drinks came quickly afterwards. We had eaten a very late lunch and in the interest of time, we chose to skip the appetizer and order just the mains (plus cocktails and wine). We couldn’t help but notice that a couple who had come in a good 15 minutes after us received their appetizers and their main course before we even got our main course. It was starting to get late and with only 40 minutes to spare, we still hadn’t received our meals. I did get up to ask how much longer it would be and was told the kitchen was going as fast as they could. It just seemed odd to say this because there were hardly any other people in the restaurant at this time. A few minutes later, we got our meals but we felt like we had to rush and were unable to order anything for dessert. The server offered, but by this time we only had 20 minutes to spare and given how long the mains took to arrive, we didn’t want to chance it. So all in all, it wasn’t the most relaxing meal due to the lack of ambience and the 45 minutes it took for our food to arrive even though we explained that we only had 90 minutes and the restaurant was almost empty. The food was just OK. I would probably opt to try a different location in Lunenburg next time. It was disappointing as we were really looking forward to this meal."

"TLDR: Extremely tired business, but delicious food. I realize the owners have been around for a very long time and have been looking to sell. I also heard from the owner that a buyer is hopefully closing sometime in May. I also know running a business is not easy work. However, that should never make customers feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. FULL REVIEW: I write this review from a single experience this morning. I also realize some local folks who read this may have personal feelings/reactions to what I write. That is fine, as I mentioned, this is based on my first ever time being here. I have been in town since 2016 and always wondered what this place was like. Well, this morning my son and I decided to check it out. We arrived at 9:33AM. There appeared to be a man (owner? cooking on the grill, a woman manning the counter (owner? and a younger woman who appeared to clean tables and wash dishes. Upon entering, it wasn 't overly busy and we stood there for about 5 minutes. The woman behind the counter asked the younger woman, do we have anywhere they can sit . She replied and called out a table number. So we waited a few more minutes and the woman behind the counter said you guys can just go sit at the table . The interior is definitely very aged and worn down. The bench seat I sat on was sinking in and I felt like I was sitting on half cushion/half wood. When it 's purchased, the interior will likely require and entire gutting and overhaul. We sat ourselves at the table and we didn 't have any napkins or silverware. We waited about 15-20 minutes before the woman manning the counter came over and said can I get you something to drink and by the way, that 's all I can do for you right now as we have 3 orders ahead of yours . About 20 minutes after bringing our drinks over, she returned and took our order and said it 'd be a bit before our food came out because they 're very busy. I 'm guessing that this woman and man are the owners of the place and I 'm sure they 've been a staple in the community for a long time. I also realize that doing this for years, a decade or decades take a toll on you and your body and when you 're ready to stop, you 're just read to stop. However, the entire time we were dining ,we heard her telling everyone how tired she was, how much pain she is in, how she can 't wait to go home, how she 's hoping they 'll close early and that she can 't really do much because there are other orders ahead of people, etc. There was a lot of sighing in things she said to us and you could see by expressions on people 's faces that it made them feel pretty awkward/uncomfortable as well... we definitely got the impression that she would 've been happier if we hadn 't been there, so she didn 't have to be there. HOWEVER, on a positive note... the FOOD was delicious. It was about 50 minutes from when we arrived to when our food was served, but it was great. My son got the Saturday Special which is a 3 egg omelet with corned beef hash and hash browns. I got one of the Hungry Man breakfast options. Not many breakfast places get pancakes the way I love them (fluffy but these were literally picture perfect and tasted great. My grilled English muffin was also grilled to perfection... my over medium eggs were egg-cellent and the hash browns we crispy and buttery. My son raved about his omelet as well. It is my hope that these folks who have contributed to likely many happy customers over the years enjoy their retirement and have an opportunity to take a break for themselves and kick back and enjoy the rest of their years. It 'll be interesting to see what the new buyers do with the place. I will write a review once it has been taken over again to provide an updated update."
