"I always enjoy going to the Mattoon Cracker Barrel. My grandparents have been regulars for 5 years, visiting 7 days a week. Over time, they have become somewhat of royalty there. Everyone knows them and eagerly anticipates who will be their waitress on any given night. Even if they don't win the title, the staff still make an effort to stop by their table for a quick hello. The restaurant has truly become a second home for my grandparents. They receive special treatment, such as staff discounts, free meals, and even a reserved and decorated table on holidays. Some waitresses have even gone out of their way to visit my grandparents at home in Sullivan. The staff at the Mattoon Cracker Barrel not only make my grandparents feel special, but also take care of them. My grandma has Alzheimer's and often forgets to eat, so her meals at the restaurant are vital. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure they are well taken care of. It is heartwarming to see how much they are valued and cared for at the restaurant. We recently celebrated my grandpa's 77th birthday there, and the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable occasion. They surprised him with a birthday song and dessert, complete with a signed menu as a makeshift birthday card. My grandpa was initially embarrassed, but I could tell he was truly touched. He plans to hang the menu card on his garage wall as a keepsake. I am grateful to the staff at the Mattoon Cracker Barrel for taking such good care of my grandparents when I am unable to. Their kindness and thoughtfulness truly mean the world to me."
