"Didn't know what to expect at Harry's Hofbrau in San Leandro, but was pleasantly surprised by what we got! Whiile the decor and large, open hall is beer gardensque, there's nothing particular German about the food, served up cafeteria-style. Giant portions of meat? tasty tri-tip for me, though it was more of an Old Bay seasoning profile than Susie Q, and very moist turkey for Ben. They definitely excel at meats! But the classic Americana salads and side dishes were better-than-cateferia quality too. I was delighted to find a tasty green pea salad! The pumpkin cheesecake, though? SO GOOD. Super fluffy with a delicious swiss meringue buttercream and plenty of tartness to balance the richness. My only complaint, really, is dry rolls. Will keep Harry's Hofbrau in mind whenever I want a hearty, full meal and roomy, yet still cozy, space to go with it."
