"No cancer at lunch. Here for crust fish they do not have until dinner (7 p.m. disappointing for us at lunch, but goes to show that phone calls and questions for details is probably a good idea. Note: I am from West-PA and then North-IN, so Cajun/Kreole Essen is not something I grew up with and my reviews are based on it. Try Cajun fries Decent, do I guess? French frits with engraving, meat (probably brisket, but mostly seemed like pot roasts and cheese sauce. I don't like poutins much, so my view of this is probably not useful, but I wasn't a big fan of combination. It was also very salty and I like salt. Chicken sausages good! The only negative was that it was quite fat, floating with a fat layer on top. (For reference: I eat a lot of fast food; I usually spray the fat from McD's sausage patents before I eat the sausage biscuit, but otherwise not like most fast food is too fat. Fair thin broth, and the gumbo consisted mostly of chicken, pieces of sausage (if some more heat in the sausage preferred, and pieces of Okra, while other gumbos I have met had some other vegetables. This is not really a negative or a positive for me just thought that it is worth noting. Shrimp The taste was fantastic, but again it was awfully fat. It also had a very fishy aftertaste; I know that Etouffe often uses the seafood of the previous day, but I would suspect that the shrimp was at least a few days old at this point. I don't think this would be a big negative for people who like seafood more than I, so I think that was my problem, not theirs. Flowers This was the first time I had Boudin, ever, so take this with a grain salt as I have no idea how it should be. I wasn't much of a fan of these because, for my taste, the taste of something else in the Boudin was overwhelmed by Thymian (and Sage? . I like herbs, but that was like I smash herb bundles into my sinus soups before I tried to eat, and it was all I could really taste. I might give it a pass if I were back, but I'm not sure how Boudin should be, so I don't think my opinion is particularly relevant. Service was great and everyone was very nice. I would definitely go back when I return to Vicksburg at any point, and in any case it would recommend while I would probably order some different items next time, this is personal taste, not an objective assessment of quality."

"The Gumbo Pot Laissez les bons temps rouler in Vicksburg The perfect place to eat authentic Cajun and Kreol food without going 150 miles to New Orleans. On July 1, 2018, I saw the Gumbo Pot on Google Maps as a good place to eat. A friend and I drove the 35 miles to Vicksburg to try this hidden gem. After entering the facility, you would think you were in a restaurant on Bourbon Street in the French neighborhoods. I ordered the fried pickles, seafood gumbo, and the great Pontchartrain (catfish, oysters and shrimps) and mustard green. OMG the food was sooooo good. I never had Kreol/Call food so good and not in New Orleans. Mrs. NeeNee was so friendly and attentive. She made us welcome and always saw if we need something else. My friend had the red beans, rice and potato salad. We both had the taste of food marveled. After dinner, Ms. NeeNe offered us bread pudding, but I told her I didn't eat bread pudding. She said to try it because her bread pudding was different from other places. I tried and LOVED LOVED LOVED. I give this restaurant 10 stars. The food was so good, I went back today, July 7, 2018. I had again the gumbo and then the fried catfish with crustfish étouffée over rice and one side mustard green. Once again, the food was so tasteful and reminded me of the food in one of my favorite restaurants in the French neighborhoods. I would advise everyone to go to Gumbo Pot in Vicksburg, MS for real Creole / Cajun food. The owner is of Marrero, Louisiana (West Bank) and he can definitely cook. Prices are reasonable and the sizes are more than enough. I would recommend this restaurant to all who visit Vicksburg, MS. I'm a Gumbo Pot tribal. I'll go back as much as I can. If you are in the Vicksburg area or want New Orleans taste, please visit the Gumbo Pot, you will not be disappointed."
