"Like all, we suffered from the strong heat in Münsterland this first July weekend in 2015. I had definitely decided not to stand on a hot stove. And my wife suggested folding the roof of her car back, letting it cool off the wind and looking for a nice return. During the trip we agreed to return to Althoff's farmyard. Located in the small village of Langenhorst, district of Ochtrup and located on the former federal road 54 to Steinfurt, a well-located destination for a tour from Rheine. We had met the Gasthof a short time ago on a bike tour. But at the first visit there was no opportunity to consult the very demanding map and test the dishes. But at that time we came to return. The HP is unfortunately not well maintained, you cannot look into the maps. I upload a few pages of the map and then also add the link to the HP. We arrived at Langenhorst at 7 pm and hoped to get a place outside despite the lack of a reservation, either in the very nice beer garden (see photos Restaurantaccount) or in front of the house to the street at the tables there. The house and restaurant was well filled with cyclists as house guests. Many out-of-the-box license plates revealed that our Münsterland is becoming more and more popular among the bicycle holiday friends of the Republic and also the Dutch neighbours. We got another two table in the beer garden and felt very comfortable there. For both freshly tapped Rolinck Pilsener alcohol-free for both of us, we stayed in the evening, we looked into the rich map. As I said, it can't be seen on the HP, but what we had to say was that the anticipation had already risen. The kitchen remains western-fälisch, but one can see that one follows this basic orientation with quality! There are western-fälische classics, the usual carving and steak variations as well as regional and seasonal sides in the map. Now at the end of June of course the new matjes in all possible variations. It was hard to determine, many dishes had one run the water together, but we had to make a choice. So there was an advance: for my wife a roast with smoked salmon, mustard-dill honey sauce and a salad. My wife was satisfied, the Rösti looked good, I was allowed to taste the salmon and found him very mildly smoked, a little too little smoke aroma, but that's personal taste. Overall a decent appetizer, photo of the court is uploaded. I ordered the offered Brulee cream from the goat cheese. That threw a fine dish. The slightly salty mousse with a caramelized sugar lid was very tasty. The dish was accompanied by two slices of Bruschettta garnished with olives, as well as a tasty fresh little salad in a cucumber. Tasteful and visually very good! The appetizers were above the expected level, the joy rose to the main courses. Here my wife ordered fillets from the Wolfsbarsch. Fried on the point on the skin, they were tasty (I was allowed to taste) accompanied by a ratatouille vegetables and very good homemade muzzles, as well as a ratatouille vegetables. The sponge praised the muzzles, so a little knight's stroke for the cook. Good court. For me there was lamb carree. There were butterclayed two pieces of lamb, on the inside gratinated with an olive crust. Class, fine pink cooked in the inner, perfectly taken from the oven, good Mediterranean crust. They tasted very good. not so good **** in the bacon coat and a good gratin. All in all there is a well-lugged, handcrafted, very well-prepared walkway. Both courses were lavish in western False, so unfortunately we had no place for the very seductive dessert card, because all positions are offered in small wake-up glasses and you can combine your individual selection. Next time the appetizer stays away, then there's Dessert. Ambience and service were good and professional. There was no reason to complain. The house is very lovingly designed like the outdoors, and I am sure you can feel very comfortable in this hotel. Conclusion: a kitchen better than expected, here you can give good conscience an honest good. We like to come back!"
