"I returned to Hal Mal's after several years and was pleased to find that it still has its relaxed and friendly vibe. The highlight of our visit was definitely the live music; the Dixieland band was impressive, opting for more contemporary tunes instead of the usual Stephen Foster standards. The food was up to its usual standard—fresh and flavorful gumbo, though the po' boys were just average, relying a bit on their reputation. The drink choices were satisfactory, and overall it was a laid-back and fairly affordable night out. There’s great value here, and it's a reliable choice. We'll be sure to return the next time we're in town."

The gumbo was absolutely delicious! I had to commend the chef personally! I visited with a group of veterans from across the country for a horsemanship program in Jackson. Our hostess was incredibly friendly and helpful!
