"COCKROACH INFESTATION! Ok, this is a very hard review to write in that the location and views were exceptional...along with the service. The crudo hamachi appetizer was not fresh (seemed dated...quite fishy) ...but that wasn't the real issue rest of dinner was good (although not exceptional). And the dessert passion fruit soufflé was top notch. The problem was that just as we were finishing up dinner and finished ordering dessert we were greeted with sudden infestation of cockroaches...one flew into my hair and another crawled up one of our our guest legs. More continued to show up crawling across the floor which were then noticed by staff who started running around stomping on them. These were rather large 2 size cockroaches. Restaurant needs a major fumigation to address their infestation issue. Well...we finished up desert quickly and left stage right. Memorable experience yes, as we will forever now remember It as the Mauna Kea Manta Cockroach Dinner!"

"Suuuper tasty burgers. Worth the price and although the portions arent mainland/Midwestern sized-the taste cant be beat! We had the Maui rootbeer floats with our amazing burgers and perfect fries....can not complain. The staff is super helpful and very informative. Seating is available inside with some wait time. Be warned...Surf Burger next door is where your food will be delivered from but you must order in person inside of Kohala Burger and Taco."

"Nice ambience. My heart of palm, beet goat cheese salad were tasty but his uni tagliatelle appetizer was “oh-no”, and he would not recommend it. He also wasn’t fond of his fresh catch of the day, prepared in a fish bone broth that wasn’t worth the hype, while my kombachi fish entree, prepared in a kind of fricasee style with Meyer lemons, capers and chopped tomatoes, was a winner. I passed on dessert, but he went for the crème brûlée coffee, and although the brûlée was good, it wasn’t worth the $22 spent on it."

"The service was amazing, but the food was overpriced and not very good. For a seafood bar, the seafood was not fresh at all. Got the curry and the fish was pretty dry and bland. They also only included 2 shrimp and 1-2 scallops for the $40+. We also got a sautéed vegetable side which was pretty good. More of a touristy atmosphere than a local hot spot."

"Food was great and our server was really nice. I normally don’t have anything negative to say about Copper Bar bc we come here time and time again, but I did not like where we were seated. It was a small table for 2, half outside and half inside. Another family complained about their table and was seated outside. The ambiance and energy is just different being seated closer to the bar. The food runner also kept walking by us and had her tray of food hovering over my head on multiple occasions. I really didn’t appreciate that. We got to the point where we moved the whole table ourselves a couple inches so that the runner wouldn’t keep hovering food over my head. There were other ways she could have gone. I just didn’t understand why she would choose such a narrow walkway to walk through with a tray. Never had that issue before."
