"Fast casual west coast style Mexican joint that is fully vegan. I haven’t come across too many places in NYC that sell real west coast style Mexican food (there are plenty of great Mexican places, but there’s a noticeable regional difference in flavor mixes etc — not saying one is better than the other). I tried out the birria tacos, westside burrito and crispy dilla. I’ve struggled to find food in New York that tastes like the food I grew up with, but Raiz has come the closest! The owner was super nice as well and clearly passionate about the food they serve.

I really enjoyed the Baja tacos. Super flavorful and fresh! I also ordered the westside burrito, which was good but not my favorite because they use Daiya in it- perhaps if I had it taken out it would have been better. Overall a good spot, would recommend trying.

I loved raiz! Being from california there aren’t many Mexican places in nyc and especially vegan Mexican places. The food was amazing and I couldn’t even tell it was vegan. Had a great conversation with the owner who is super nice and got to find out more info about him and his background. I would 100% take my non vegan friends here.
