"Now and then a restaurant really amazes you how good they are and Hellbender is one of the places. The place is in a renovated, large house with a lot of character, so it is a charming and picturesque restaurant (that feels smaller than it is). There are seating in all different rooms, some larger than others, and a real bar near the front (with lots of local beers on tap. Once was the new public house in the beautiful downtown Blowing Rock, NC. Smooth and biscuits for breakfast and inflated rooms are the biggest changes. The smoothies are of high quality and are delicious. Biscuits are fresh and to order. The rooms were recently sprayed. Well made with brighter colors and comfort.

The food was fabulous! We started with the homemade chips and beer cheese, which was very addictive. Then I had the Smashburger that was perfectly cooked. We finished our meal with the chocolate chip cookie in a small chick and the bananas groom with the rum caramel sauce. I was very happy. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing and the staff was very attentive. I love this place and everything about it!

We visited the restaurant twice a week in Blowing Rock. Both times we used the outdoor kitchen. The staff was friendly and great atmosphere. There were some vegetarian options. We had the adult grilled cheese (delicious once and the pulpits and drinks the next (jalapeño margarita was also delicious! . Easy order and payment with QR reader from your table if you want. You don't take reservations, but we didn't have a waiting time at 7:00 a.m. in the week.
