"When I inquired about the price, I was informed that unless you specifically request a SINGLE cheeseburger with bacon, they automatically assume you want a double. It might be a good idea for them to ask customers whether they want a single or double when ordering a cheeseburger, but they don't. My daughter and I explicitly wanted singles, as she hadn't ordered a double. They debated with me but eventually issued a $3 refund, though I believe it should have been more. I found out that a cheeseburger costs $3.30, which means the bacon added $2.29 to my bill—seems quite steep. Afterwards, I called to confirm the cost of a cheeseburger ($3.30) and the price to add bacon, which would total $4.30. I asked why I was charged $5.59, and chaos ensued. I overheard staff in the kitchen as they discussed my question, one woman suggesting they didn't need customers like me, and a man yelled at me without letting me finish my thoughts before abruptly hanging up. The basic calculations are pretty straightforward: 2 double bacon cheeseburgers at $4.30 each ($8.60), one order of onion chips ($3.30), and two small malts at $3.99 each ($7.98), totaling $19.88, with tax bringing it to $21.25. Initially, I was charged $27.85, and after a $3 refund, I still ended up paying $24.85, meaning they still owe me $3.60. Instead of addressing my concerns honestly, they chose to yell at me, hang up, and essentially steal $3.60 from me. It may not seem like a lot, but it’s my money, not theirs. In essence, they overcharged me and denied my request for a full refund, claiming I was lying during my initial inquiry. I disagree; my daughter ordered two cheeseburgers with bacon, not two double bacon cheeseburgers. Their menu does not specify that ordering without saying "single" means you automatically receive a double. The customer service was atrocious, enough for me to decide I won’t return. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone else, either. We have visitors every summer, and we eat out frequently, but there are plenty of other establishments that offer just as good food, if not better, and are far more pleasant and fair. There are superior malts just down the street, better burgers across the tracks, and tastier onion rings right next door. Don’t waste your money at Eagle's Nest. If you do go, bring a calculator and be sure to ask plenty of questions to ensure you're charged for exactly what you intend to order."
