Tropical Hawaiian Bbq

I was hoping to enjoy this place because there's not a lot of Hawaiian food places. Even though this is kind of out of my way when I visit SLO, I still would have been a regular if the food was worth it. I would have preferred a much heartier meal, but it felt like it was more on the lighter side and my money didn't get me very far here. One of the things that I was pretty surprised about was the sauce that they give you with the Hawaiian beef plate. I thought it was tempura sauce initially, because it was so watery. It was actually their teriyaki sauce, and with it being so watery, lacked flavor. Basically, it was weak sauce.

Soooo overrated. I used to think this place was pretty good but no more. Stopped by today around 3:30 and ordered my usual Hawaiian BBQ beef special. Went to wash my hands and literally two minutes later was handed my order. Asked for two extra sauces (they 're pretty small) and the owner hands me one. Did the same thing last visit. Anyway, I go to eat in my car and my just purchased food is Barely Lukewarm. Usually, it takes about ten to fifteen minutes for the BBQ beef even when the place is empty. I suppose this lazy proprietor thought he could just palm this half-as*ed, mediocre meal off on me. Pretty pathetic for 13 bucks. I 'm done with this place.

From San Miguel down to Lompoc, this is one of two Hawaiian BBQ that I recommend to go. In the Smart and Final shopping center, in AG, is Tropical Hawaiian BBQ. When you enter you are greeted and a big menu over the counter. The food takes about 10 mins every time. They give you cups for self served soda or they have canned Hawaiian drinks. Laid back atmosphere. I got and recommend the Katsu Chicken, with the KATSU SAUCE! The portions here are second to none. They give you a huge stack upon stacks of Katsu Chicken that is done perfectly. The peppery breading, with the juicy chicken, fried.
