"Dining at Edson Hill is clearly meant to be an experience. They certainly charge you for it. At those prices, execution and flavor need to be spot on, and they just ... weren't. Pumpkin soup was so bland and thick, it was like eating flavorless applesauce. Scallops were very good, and cooked nicely, but thrown on top of a pile of spaghetti squash that, again, lacked any flavor. It was clearly squash season, but not a hint of spice or nutmeg. The duck was the highlight of the meal, and the only dish that was executed correctly. Our steak frites was so disappointing. The cut should have been saved for well done, it was not a quality piece of filet, which is the wrong steak for a frites anyways. The fries were perfect and plentiful, but when the fries outshine the steak on a frites plate, that's a problem. For $52 I expect a nice cut. Everything lacked salt and pepper. Dessert was fine, but the cheesecake didn't taste of pumpkin at all, and really didn't taste of cheesecake either, more of a slightly sour mousse cake. All in all, this was a lesson. Take your money to Montreal or the Eastern Townships. They do fine dining better, cheaper, and more casually so you don't have to play along with the stilted service only to be disappointed by the food. Edson Hill is meant for an over 50 crowd who is still more impressed by an obsequious maitre d'hotel than by properly seasoned food."

"the breakfast buffet was easy. I liked the cheese and top selection, but it was almost as if everything that was cooked for tomorrow was it (i.e. nobody came out to fill up earthy and saw the egg to sit for a bit.) if the price was lower, I would give these five stars, but simply did not see the worth in it and had spent $70 on something else inside and a bagel. the location and view of the dining room are very beautiful."

"we visited this place on our last trip to Vermont. in ca. 4 pm migrated to a relatiw empty space and rested all the way back. the server apologised when she realized that we were sitting there for good 15 minutes without even water being served. she was a great host. we ordered a few beers and appetizers. the service is somewhat slow, but eating and drinks are good. so they visit this place for beer! it can be occupied on a sunny day with outside seats. parking on the back and much available. this place is quite large with capacity and offers space for big parties. they asked if we had reservations before we entered. we had gone to the house. hopefully, the experience is better when we visit this place next time. they have withdrawn our appetizers for the late in service. they understand this gesture."

"The special veal on mashed potatoes and veggies garnished with popped corn is absolutely delicious. Mussels were heavenly. And wine selection was great. Gracious hosts, quiet atmosphere, and nice decoration just adds to the experience. Every time we are in Vermont now, we are making sure to try this again."

"Great place to get breakfast, great staff, very friendly. They are very short staffed as is most people so just be patient it is well worth the wait. But they are extremely efficient for being short staffed so not too long of a wait. Will definitely keep coming back. Also everything’s homemade!!"
