"I had a difficult time with the rating. The food was delicious and our server was great; however, they were out of everything. I intended to order sea bass but was told it was substituted with halibut, which was fine. I was told there were only two halibut left so I ordered ahead of everyone at our table. They were out of diver scallops, the queso and several other items. After everyone ordered, I was told there was a miscount and they were also out of halibut. The menu is very beef heavy and I have an unfortunate allergy to beef (not their problem, I understand that). I chose the salmon. The menu described the salmon as being served with rock shrimp and a butternut squash risotto. No shrimp and no risotto. It was served over a few slices of asparagus and a butter sauce (which was actually really good but not what I paid for). We spent almost $300 for 4 people. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly so that made me happy. As we were leaving, they were telling other customers they were out of the tuna and salmon, leaving zero seafood choices and mostly just beef. I felt really bad for the servers. They were working very hard to please everyone. I understand supply issues right now and greatly appreciate dedication to fresh food but we had an early reservation on a Saturday night. If you are out of most of your entree choices, how do you expect to serve your customers? Maybe expand the menu to items more readily available. Regardless of this experience, I would try it again maybe next year when the crazies are over COVID and people realize they have to go back to work."

"The food is good, and the 2 for $25 price is reasonable. Around 5 minutes after our salads were brought, our entrees arrived. Hubby moved this salad aside, and ate his meal. I finished my salad and then ate my barely warm meal. Steaks were cooked correctly, and broccoli well steamed. Timing of service needs improvement."

"The Back Porch is always our go to in Kilgore. Their food is always consistent and delicious. It is also priced fairly, and their servers are always courteous and kind. I’ve never had a bad experience. It’s also a great place to hear live music, and they always have a full lineup."

"I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo, jalapeños, potatoes, egg, and cheese. There was about a half a tablespoon of beans at just one end of the burrito. The chorizo had no flavor and when I say no flavor, I had to add what this place calls hot sauce (basically tomato sauce) to my meal to have any flavor. Even the jalapeños were bland. The waitress needs to be working in another field, maybe at a register at a gas station. There was a really nice man with his son. Several others came in after. She was taken the others orders as the man and his son patiently waited. The young boy started acting like he was eating. Another employee finally came out of the back to bring food to another table. The man finally spoke up (after about 15-20 minutes) and asked if someone was going to take their order. If someone knows of another place to have breakfast in kilgore, please share. I come to kilgore e every 3 weeks to get my nails done. I don't eat McDonald's, burger king, or any of that. Thanks in advance."

"Eat here all the time but today might be my last. First I asked for the Stodge burger and to please sub cheddar for american cheese and the server said no I can't. I said ok then I ordered the hamburger steak plate and asked for (4) fried shrimp on the side and they told me we have to charge you for the whole poorboy sandwich meal. I said really because I've gotten that before a couple times in the past and never had an issue. The server says yeah different chef different rules... I said ok good to know! The chef today might have cost you a regular customer hope it was worth it folks!!"
