"A local’s favorite, families and surfers alike. A bit on the weathered side, but the food is authentic Mexican style and the salsa is a winner too. They have won the San Clemente Salsa Challenge quite a few times. The service is friendly (many of them are from the same family and will often sit down and chat if you have the time. The Mexican food is priced very reasonable. Beer by the bottle or glass only (no pitchers , wine and tequila margaritas. Try a Family Carnitas plate (feeds 4+ or a Baja style fish taco (don’t forget the chips salsa . I’d rate it higher if they would bring back the pitchers of beer. You can get better (tastier and ambiance) from Thai Brothers in Laguna Beach or Spice Thai in Lake Forest however both are significantly more expensive and not in San Clemente. The is a great spot to grab take out for a local Thai food craving the restaurant itself has a modestly ...generic feel but is adequate however the manager and servers are sincere good people and the food is by no means below par. "We arrived at the beginning of dinner hour. The doors were open, but no one was in the dining room (although we had reservations). When I stepped to the kitchen door to enquirer, I was disgusted by what I saw. It was filthy. The sink area had black gunk everywhere and the floors looked as though they had never been cleaned. We immediately left. I cannot comment on the food as I would not dare eat it. I'm sorry to have to write this. Perhaps the restaurant owners can turn things around."

"Fun ambiance. Good was ok, very overpriced for quality. Server was big in upselling and quite pushy. Asked if we wanted bread and butter, made it free, but it was an extra $5. The apple cake dessert was not heated all the way. The middle was cold and muddy. Could go back and get a drink at the bar and some frits. The Pommes were the highlight of the meal."

"Service was slow very few patrons. Two customers to a table. six customers all together in the restaurant. Three waitresses, 1 backup who delivered the food to the table, refilled drinks and took care of the patron and cleared the table dirty dishes. He was on top of it great job. The backup also brought out the containers filled them with the leftovers, to take home. Also brought the bill out and took it back to the cashier. What is going on with these waitresses. Did they have to cook? Did they have to do dishes? Whenever"

"Attentive staff. Drinks are great. Atmosphere is dive bar chic. (Sorry for the word chic). Food was great! Filet medalions were on point. You can’t go wrong eating here. Casual and comfortable. “Money’s worth” achieved!"
