"Today, on June 8, 2023 at 11am, I went in for lunch. I usually enjoy mixing my pho, and this time I ordered a small pho with veggie broth, no onions, and soft tendon with crab meat. Initially, the server refused to add crab meat for some reason, but eventually relented. I also requested extra lime, which I have never had an issue with in the past. However, this time they gave me only 2 extra lime wedges, and then tried to charge me $1.00 for them. This struck me as ridiculous, especially considering my long-standing patronage. The service overall has declined, with some great servers like Tren no longer being present. The current staff members, both an older man and a young man, are not effective and even demand tips despite providing subpar service. The restaurant must consider hiring more competent individuals to improve the overall customer experience."

"My husband and I pass this diner several times a week and keep saying we should check it out; so this past Thursday evening we decided we had a craving for the diner experience and pulled into the parking lot at City Diner. We were greeted and shown a table promptly. I know this diner is known more for its breakfast, but the menu is quite diverse and we were there for dinner, we decided we had a hankering for Greek cuisine. We ordered the stuffed grape leaves and hummus appetizers. I really like stuffed grape leaves, and though the best stuffed grape leaves I've had in the DC area are at Taverna Cretekou, City Diner's version hit the spot as well. The hummus and pita bread are both delicious as well. For our main course we ordered the athenian combo, which we realized after, was enough food to feed two people....the portions are definitely filling at City Diner. The platter has tasty gyro meat on a pita, spanakopita, salad, and french fries. You also get another side of salad or soup! Did I mention you will not leave hungry?! : This a definitely a place local diner fans enjoy and I can see why...from the decor to the super friendly staff, we felt at home the whole time. We plan to comeback to try breakfast or shakes and pie sometime soon. Thanks for a great traditional diner experience."

"This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. This time we were there for breakfast with the whole family of 9 including 3 generations and it was super special! The food was delicious, and the service makes you feel like royalty! It's a very relaxing but beautiful place to share special moments. The Greek Omelet is always a favorite but everything on Eleni's extensive menu is outstanding! And they have best coffee anywhere! 100 stars!!!"

"I picked up two lunch specials on my way from Springfield to DC earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed my meal from 9 Pad Thai. I ordered the regular Pad Thai with chicken (and, apparently, pork) as well as the Panang Curry with chicken and rice. Both came with spring rolls and had enough in the portion to leave leftovers of each plate. I ordered online which was an easy process and the order was ready for pickup within 15 minutes.The Pad Thai was among the best Pad Thai's I've had in the DMV/DC area; the sauce was tangy and sweet, the onions were perfectly cooked, and there were enough onions/veggies to provide an excellent contrast to the egg, pork, and chicken. I didn't know that the dish would include barbecue pork so if you don't eat pork, make sure to specify that this should be omitted. This dish was easily a 5/5 and a definite highlight of the meal.The Panang Curry was not as good as the Pad Thai and I'd rate it a 4/5. If I had ordered more than the mild spice level, I think the dish would have had a better overall flavor profile. My main criticism was just that the flavor wasn't very strong. Also, there were two bell peppers for garnish when I believe there should have been more than that. Everything was cooked well though and there was quite a lot of chicken. I definitely plan to order from here again next time I'm in the area!"
