"I am more often in Brunsbüttel, simply because I like to see ships, and here at the entrance of the castle is an ingenious place to watch the ships at the entrance or exit to the castle. And this is the main reason for me to visit the Torhaus and experience this spectacle during a cozy meal or a drink. The Torhaus is a typical tourist restaurant that does not necessarily have to be bad. The selection on the menu is quite large. Fresh salads are offered which are quite generous and also taste very good. There are carvings in various variations, for example as hunters or as gypsy carvings. Pommes and a small salad are added (unfortunately not from fresh, but more from acidic ingredients). There are also baked potatoes with various ingredients, pizzas and also many fish dishes. The menu is complemented by soups and dessert, e.g. ice cream. During my first visit, the cook was probably in love, because my carving was saltier. My friends had similar experiences. Overall, we were satisfied with our courts tonight. During further visits I chose a turkey salad, which was fresh and appealing, as well as a pasta dish with dried tomatoes and pine nuts, which was also optically very nicely served. Tastefully it was good both times, the portion size was sufficient for me. The prices are in the middle price segment, so for a carving you pay between 10-16 euros approx., the salads beat with about 6-10 euros book, pasta gives for 7-12 euros. The beverage prices are slightly higher with 3.70 euros for a 0.4 l of Cola. A beer from the barrel 0.5 l would have cost me 3.90 euros. The service was very diligent and friendly. During my first visit, it was a bit stressful because the operation was a little snippy. In the evening we waited for the food. In addition, the supplements came much later. During the further visits there was nothing to complain, all were very friendly, we waited for an appropriate time. Conclusion: There are other locals nearby. However, the gatehouse is so cheap to look at the ship that I always come here. In summer you can sit wonderfully, observe people and eat and drink a little bite. This is certainly what most people wear here."
