"afton house of smoke! all about our stay was disappointing. the website hyptes this place up, only for them in the face will be smashed with a hard reality. a bevelled old bed they want to hold by adding a topper, a jacuzzi barely large enough for a person, old (not antique) wobbly furniture - only all very outdated and cleaned out. website also claims our room had a flow view more like a harbour view and we could not even enjoy that from our room because there are a parking lot going under our balcony. the room was also very loud because it was above its kitchen area. our last complaint is with the deception of the website regarding the spa package we thought we got. her website says it's $195 plus the cost of her room that we're okay with and clicked add just to find that we don't add a thing except for some cakes on the bill and had to add an additional $240 for the hour massage that we get. then we got the massage. the two ladies were good sports, but we had to literally pull most furniture in our tiny room on the bed or in the bathroom to fit, and even then it was a tight squeeze. When we asked georgie about the surprise fee we just met, she treated us as if we were idiots who didn't know she had a final in sucking people. very stunning. oh, and the breakfast part of this bed and breakfast. skip! her omelette is only rührei with cheese, if we did not want or ask, sausage links and toast. had to go into the bar area and pick my own salt and pepper to thrive what I could, and ate my toast level, like the two strawberry jams that left her with us both were brown and cramped. we will come back to the opposite, just never again into this inn."

"Our experience was just so so. It took awhile for us to get seated even though there were plenty of staff standing around. Once we got a table it took awhile for someone to take our drink order and get us menus. When we did finally get to order it took awhile to get our drinks and to order our food. When the food finally arrived we had to ask for silverware, napkins and other condiments. The food was pretty good once it came. The funny thing about it is that there were not that many people in the restaurant and there were 4 servers working."

"Steakhouse only. I have never eaten anywhere this bad. I wasn’t in the mood for much so I just got nachos. Chips were stale, ground beef was flavorless and looked like it had been sitting on the stove all day. Tomatoes didn’t taste like tomatoes. At all. More of a chemical taste. I had about three bites and that was all I could do. BF got a steak that left a LOT to be desired. The mashed potatoes where more like an old baked potato that had been smashed. Very dry. Garlic toast was stale. Corn on the cob was soggy and mushy. That probably sat in a pot of water on the stove all day. Very unhappy with such an expensive meal. Wished we had looked up reviews before we stopped! We wished we had kept going to the taco time just up the street."

"Entire restaurant has **** poor customer service. Everyone who works at this place is short with customers and just unpleasant in general. Definitely prefer take out to avoid the attitude. Everyone just stands around gossiping and chatting while ignoring and being annoyed with customers. Reading other reviews I see I’m definitely not alone in my experience. The whole lot of workers here have terrible customer service. And because of the limited options in the area, I doubt they will change their behavior. Guess we just have to wait for this place to change hands to someone who cares about running their business. "My husband and I have been regulars here since the summer of 2010. We visited on a Groupon for wine tasting and have been loyal patrons ever since. The staff is always friendly and the wine selection is always on point. We became members of the Wine Club that day in 2010 and have enjoyed learning and growing our knowledge and passion for wine along with others. "I wasn’t overly hungry so I went for simple and ordered a grilled ham and cheese. When it first came out the cheese wasn’t even melted. I sent it back to have the cheese melted. When I went ear my meal it smelled and tasted like the stove burner in which it was cooked on. The cheese is the cheap singles cheese you pull out of the sleeve and the ham was nothing but two thin slices of lunchmeat for $9.00. It’s a cute quaint place but the food needs some revamping, at least the sandwich I had."

"The Cod Fish Basket was absolutely delicious. Best french fries and Coleslaw. Cod was so good. Got Shrimp Bread and it was amazing. Did takeout and splitting meal with my husband. "As someone who purchases and supports the Veritas Winery, I found our visit for dinner disappointing. The promised Veritas sparkling wine when we arrived was actually a wine from Barcelona. The first course of lentil soup was good, but the second and third courses of short rib and then duck were like having two entrees. Not a vegetable in sight during the entire meal. The dessert was rather amorphous. The wines paired with the meal were good but we learned nothing about them but their names--no description, no reason why they were paired with the food being served. The tables were pretty and had candles, but they were not lit until we requested it during the third course--it was obviously overlooked. We particularly enjoyed the cabernet franc and wanted to buy a bottle, but they had none on hand to sell. They offered a merlot instead, then suggested we return the next day if we really wanted the cabernet franc. We did return-and the place was so overrun, we would have waited almost half an hour to buy just one bottle of wine. Extremely poor planning at dinner and for the visit. All in all, I can't recommend a visit, despite some good food and wines and a lovely ambience."
