"Generally I’m not impressed by fancy pizza creations as I prefer more down to earth kind of pizza when going to a pizza place. Pizza fungi with vegan cheese or a pizza salami with a meat substitute. But I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of these creative options at Holzofen. I had the Pizza Bella and loved it. For dessert I had the cocoa mousse which I enjoyed just as much. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly and the staff was exceptionally attentive and kind. A good place when dining with omnivores. Updated from previous review on 2021-11-24"

"I ate here a couple of years ago and was eager to go back. This year I ate there four times, twice with a large group, twice with a couple of friends. The food was consistently outstanding, and the service was excellent, if a bit...slow--apparently because everything is cooked to order. They even prepared a small portion for me to taste when I mentioned that I was curious about how their spaghetti alla carbonara compared to mine (and it was delicious)! Bettina and her husband Chef Enzo are warm and inviting, and the food is as good as I have had anywhere, including in Italy. The friends I ate with also commented on how delicious everything was. Eating here was one of the highlights of my trip to Bavaria."

"We went here because of tripadvisor rating. Interesting place, which was, when we came there (aug 2021 , run by one person in a wheelchair (surprise 1 . He was both the cook and the waiter (surprise 2 . He cant get good staff, so is forced to do everything by himself, but it works really well. Seems to be a wine expert (I can't really judge because I certainly am not one : . His advice for a local wine was interesting . You'll be asked what you want to eat, because there is no menu (surprise 3 . We were very happy with the food and wine, and the service was very friendly and personal. Because of the shortage of staff, not many can come so reserve well in advance (or come at 17:30 like we did . Well made up tables, nice decorations with lots of wisdom in them. And bottles of wine everywhere which creates a pleasant ambiance indeed!"

"Seit Jahrzehnten ist das Fichta in Weiglathal ein Inbegriff für gutes Bier und deftige Brotzeiten. Wie normalerweise in Biergärten üblich, herrscht auch hier im Außenbereich Selbstbedienung. Die Speisekarte mit den überwiegend kalten Brotzeiten ist übersichtlich, aber vollkommen ausreichend, und das nach Familienrezept gebraute dunkle Weiglathaler Bier macht dem Ruf Oberfrankens als Bierkulturland alle Ehre. Parkplätze stehen direkt vor der Tür zur Verfügung, aber bitte vorher einen Fahrer festlegen, da das Bier sehr süffig ist. In der Nähe der A9 (Ausfahrt Trockau) gelegen ist das Wirtshaus Weiglathal eine willkommene Abwechslung zu den üblichen Autobahnraststätten. Preis/Leistung sind top - wo sonst gibt es noch eine Halbe für 2 Euro (August 2016)."

"we decided to have lunch because we wanted to eat some light. we had an salad with crostinis and we were really happy with our choice. they serve vegetarian meals with a large taste. the service was fast and very friendly and the prices are. just right. the restaurant is just a few meters from the market. while sitting outside, you can enjoy the view of the beautiful shopping street in the older part of bayreuth. in any case worth a visit!"

"this ristorant is a real secret tip in bayreuth. it is located in a 30s zone in the meyernberg district. the family business has existed since March 2014. here you can experience Sicilian-Calabrian friendliness. in all points they can forgive the full number of stars. it is recommended to book by phone before a visit, as it is booked almost daily. so many guests cannot be mistaken to feed in a meal. premium risstorante. already in the march we have pre-ordered for the Symlvester party. the prices are very fair: for example, they get Scampi-Calamari for under 20 €! the cleanliness is exemplary. the pwersonal has remained faithful to his coming. a true paradies."

"(3,5/5). Normally I give a 3 rating to 3,5 point restaurants but this one gets me just over the hump. This is a sushi/Asian restaurant literally you need to read the menu from both ends to fully see the whole offering. Ambience is quite pleasant though we ended up in the back room. The restaurant was stuffed with locals and festival audience upon our visit. Service was clearly a local student, but smart, attentive and with a smile. Food was good overall: we had loads of sushi and some Asian fusion starters. The cook has a special interpretation of tempura, expect more general 'fried ' fare. Sushi had more rice than traditional, a sign of a junior chef, so you get stuffed rather quickly. Fish quality was quite good given the location Overall a welcome change from the standard Franconian food, which gets me over the hump..."

"We went to Himalaya for dinner after a day of traveling to Bayreuth from Prague. While much of the town was absorbed in the opening night of the Wagner festival, we wanted to find a nice quiet place where we could find some gluten free and vegan options for dinner. Nepalese was the perfect choice. Small restaurant with tables outside, quick and pleasant service, delicious selections. As an alternative to German cuisine, we recommend a visit!"

"I know this guest house from the past, as we often had family celebrations here. After many years I landed here with friends and was very surprised, in the best sense! The menu is very extensive, although the selection consists mainly of meat dishes (the inn belongs to its own butcher), but nevertheless very versatile and diverse. Also for vegetarians there is much less to fish. I had recommended my friends the dish “On the Alm” (a scavenger with roasted lobes and Camembert baked) and also tried it. definitely belongs to my new favorite dishes of Franconian cuisine! In the host room you sit very comfortable, everything is lovingly decorated and ensures a warm ambience, even if everything is a bit older and you get from the kitchen to the sound level. The service was nice. The restaurant is located near the Hermitage, not directly in the center. Parking is available. I would call the inn as a real insider tip! The visit after all these years was really rewarding."

"the family of my manne brought us to dinner in pizzaria on restaurant was something out of the way, if it had not been for my shiny in bayreuth, I would never have found this place. it is located in the upper floor. a brown brick building with a view of a large parking space had a beautiful terrace area for al fresco restaurants. we had a table reserved for six who had luck because the restaurant was extremely busy for a Thursday night. the menu offered typical Italian dishes such as pizza; pasta; lasagne. I chose the funghi pizza (mushroom), which was very pleasant my nabeby chose the lasagne. Although the cocktails were expensive, I enjoy their mojitos. the service was somewhat slow with us that we had to take the attention of the staff while they rushed from them, but they were always politely helpful. the great shock that was at night when my hubby went to pay the bill (approximately for six people) was told him the restaurant does not accept credit cards except an EC card (not sure whether this is a rucksack card or a eurocard). it was lucky that my brother was paid or my nabenbein I would have had to wash a lot! I enjoy my meal at pizzaria, but probably not from the way back. I'd rather stay on the main roads of bayreuth with which I am more familiar."

"We had been in Bayreuth for some shopping in the bike shop below the restaurant, and as it took as longer than expected, we ended up quite hungry in the Gourmet Temple Well, the food was actually ok, the prices for the buffet too. But...the next few hours and the next day was horrible, as we both had digestion problems. I guess some of the sushi or the fish hadn't been fine or something. All in all, I had way better Chinese food in other restaurants..."
