"I stopped at the Route 220 Diner in Bedford, PA on two occasions, and both times I was relatively pleased with my meals! The building itself is rather small, but VERY decorative with that classic 50’s Diner aesthetic! Black White checkered patterns are ALWAYS a welcome design choice with retro themed diners! However, instead of having checkered floors, they have checkered tables, NEAT-O! The red chairs and window trim make everything pop even more! My absolute favorite part is the old records glued to the wall and hanging from the ceiling! The only problem is it can get rather cramped, especially on a busy day. That and some of the decor may alienate certain customers. For instance, at the entrance, there’s a photo of Dr. Anthony Fauci and Rachel Levine with text “PERMANENTLY BANNED” surrounding it. I really don’t see why they thought that was necessary. Both times I came, I ordered two different meals. The first time, I got Chicken Tenders, which were VERY satisfying and crispy with a flavorful Golden Orange breading!! The second time, I had a cheeseburger, which wasn’t anything to write home about, but DEFINITELY better than the abomination I received from the Denny’s next door! I had french fries with both meals, and they were DELECTABLE!! They were the classic “Fresh Cut” fries with the potato skins left intact, but fried to that PERFECT Golden Yellow color I absolutely LOVE in a batch of fries!! Just wonderful! Overall, despite some questionable signage and decorations, this is another great local diner worth checking out! I must warn you, it can get really crowded during peak hours. Although, much like Peggy’s Diner in Claysburg, I can see why. With food ranging from good to EXCELLENT, and a very retro environment, it’s no wonder people arrive at this eatery in droves! If you’re in the Bedford area, I recommend checking this place out at least once."
