"came here for the first time with my wife. The reviews seemed pretty positive, except for one. I think Sharlene C. must be kind spirits. I felt the atmosphere was very lively. There was live Hawaiian music. People would get up dancing Hula with certain songs. It was very funny to watch and the decor made me feel like I was back home. For all this I say work done well! Well, for dinner.... The prices were not cheap, but it wasn't terrible either. For a starter we ordered the Back Home Sampler. That was pretty good for most. The spam musubi was good, the grilled beef sticks was tender and tasty. Lahaina fried chicken was very good. The won ton was good, the Filipino style lump was also good. The Kalua-Klumpia? No taste at all. Great time lack of salt and smoke flavor that is essential in Kalua pig. The sampler's presentation looked great, but it was up there. Luckily, the majority of what was on this record was good. Now to our ducks. My wife ordered the record #1. This consisted of Lahaina Fried Chicken, beef teriyaki, Kalua Pork, rice, Mac salad and cabbage almost like a raccoon. My wife said the chicken was good. The beef teriyaki was Blande, unless you have made sure that it was Teriyaki sauce on it and, as I said, the Kalua pig lacked in taste. At least the rice was cooked well, the salad was ok and the cabbage was very good. It had a sweetie for it. I ordered the Luau Platter. This consisted of Lau, Kalua pork, Lomi Lomi salmon, chicken rice, rice, Mac salad, cabbage and Haupia cheesecake. Here's my breakthrough. My first bite of Lau Lau, I thought it was great! It was a taste of only the green and it was good. As soon as I reached the pig in the middle, I noticed that there was no salt again. Hahaha comes to MAAAAN! The Kalua pigs? You guessed it, no. If you make Kalua pork when you do not do it, the ground breaking way I will do mine in a crockpot) They rub the pig with hawaiian salt, few tablespoons of liquid smoke and some water. It is absolutely necessary to have a taste of Hawaiian salt and smoke taste. It must also be juicy. I'm sorry, maybe I've been spoiled over the years. Now my lomi lomi salmon....gues what? No more salt. This is another dish where hawaiian salt is crucial. It was also dry. Usually it is very juicy because of the amount of water it sits in almost like a broth when you become). My Chicken Long Rice was missing too. It wasn't terrible, but maybe I'm getting used to my dad. The long rice here lacked ginger and the noodles were perhaps a little undercooked. The rice and Mac salad were okay. The cabbage I really enjoyed. Now the Haupia Cheescake....DELICIOUS! All in all, the atmosphere made me happy to be here, but the food needed a lot of help. Maybe they were just from some salt or something, or the menu was a low sodium night, I don't know. Hahaha. The Haupia cheesecake was worth it,"

"If possible, I would give this place seven stars my latest experience in this restaurant was in a word sublime, and, I am allowing myself to believe that it was an answer to a prayer. Yes, my latest trip to Izakaya Hachi Torrance was that spectacular. My mom and I went to Izakaya to celebrate Mother 's Day. Now, my mom is an older Mexican woman who does not stray much from the flavors and places she knows. Suitably, me taking her out to any place that does not offer what she knows as comfortable is near an impossible task. But, I convinced her to have an early dinner with me at Izakaya. She wanted to have lunch because she does not like to eat late (past 3:00 p.m. , or else she cannot sleep. But she allowed herself to go with her son to this place. I trusted this place to help provide food and an environment that would allow me to celebrate my mom, so she can see her little boy all grown up, and how he spreads joy through out the land. I placed my trust in the right place, for Izakaya offered service, an environment, and food that was impeccable and more importantly, allowed me to share a life long memory with my mom. And this type of memory is priceless and treasured for it will bring a smile to my face when my mom becomes a resident of heaven. I felt a little embarrassed going to this place so early, we got there at 4:55 p.m. We saw the employees of the spot park and go in. I waited outside till about 5:05 before going in. They sat us in the corner of the counter. The first thing I did was order my house favorites: the Gobo Chips, the corn tempura, and the lamb chops. A server (blonde in hair also informed us that they had specials. One was a special type of sushi roll. I really did not understand what it was, but, I said bring the second special of the night. I let destiny guide us, in hopes of something grand. The second thing I ordered was a pitcher of Sapporo for the kitchen staff. The kitchen staff soon came out to say Kanpai I stood up a bit and made sure that they all knew that this toast was for my mom. I said it in English, I said it in Spanish. One of the members of the kitchen staff who read Japanese said gracias. I am sure for my mom 's benefit. My mom raised her glass of coke, and I my glass of diet coke, to toast her. This was the first wink of the universe that allowed my mom to understand that her little boy was doing good in the world, and this fact was evident by all these small moments. There was an older sushi maker directly across the counter. I told my mom that he must make amazing sushi because he had earned grand sushi skills through time, and experience. When the Zuke came that is the name of the Tuna sushi I ordered I was proven right. The Zuke was beyond delicious, it was a bite so delicious, it made me feel like God had send me a reward for the good I do in the world. It was a moment of bliss, it was a letter from the universe to me, it was a pure and authentic joy to eat! I tasted the wisdom of sushi maker in the bite. I asked the server, Who had made my sushi? and she pointed to the older sushi maker. I used my hands to deliver a bounty of kisses his way. His smile showed the wrinles of appreciation, I turned to my mom and her smile showed the same wrinkles. I ordered three orders of this Zuke of this grand tasting suhi! Everything else we ate, was sublime the chops were also an ode to me. My mom enjoyed everything she ate too, and would be willing to come back. Yay! During the meal, I was overcome with love and gratitude for my mom, and I expressed my love through solemn tears. She promised that she would be my mom even after she died. The fact that this restaurant provided the space for us to share this moment of joyous sadness, is nothing short of magical. As I was talking to my mom, a server brought me a flower and said tada! She gave it to me, to give to my mom. Another magical touch that made me happy to trust this place with my mom and I 's big night out. Domo Arigato to the servers and staff of this place, you all are doing grand! Keep up the good work for what you do matters to a foodie like me!"
