Hygrade Deli has been in business for over 65 years, managing to keep the same family running it for the past 45 years. The staff treats you like family and the food is on pointCorned Beef is one of my favorite sandwiches. Slather on Thousand Island and top with kraut and its the best! When I heard that Hygrade Deli was the place to score one of their famous Reubens, I couldn’t wait to get in there and try one. That’s not all they have. With a menu including sandwiches, soups, entrees, and breakfast, Hygrade Deli is your one stop shop for everything delicious."

"What a great find in downtown Detroit in Belt Alley. If you aren't familiar with this area it has beautiful art from around the world on the buildings in the alley. There are lots of dining and drink establishments to choose from, very cool very hip. Standby looks good, the greeters are friendly and the waitress was so thoughtful with her description of the menu and drink choices. The food is small plate , limited in number of choices but you should try everything that strikes your fancy, be ause nothing was a disappointment."

"The first time here and can't wait to go back! We had reservations and sat fast. You have a time limit of 90 min, which is fair and gives fast service. The menu is short and sweet. Filet Mignon is so delicious, the Ribeye recommended by our waiter was great! Steak dinners are about $60-$65 and very fill. You have cocktail menus and also mocktails. Parking garage over the street, but we were thrown off by Lyft. Street parking available, but a few blocks over. Walking distance from campus Martius! We will definitely come back if we don't crack our own time and hubby has no sports games. The staff was also soooo beautiful! There are also no set dress code, but all around us had fun to dressy clothes on."

"By far the best dining experience I have had in the years I have been traveling to Mexico. I had to go twice! There is an a la crate option and a 15-course tasting with a stellar wine pairing. Well worth the money, which by American standards really wasn’t over priced. Be prepared to be wowed: inventive and delicious spin on local and international cuisine.I was floored quite honestly. "Just what the doctor ordered. Literally. Who has a great day that starts in a hospital waiting room in an unfamiliar city? Yeah. I don’t know of anybody either. I relied on a recommendation from a hospital employee for someplace to go for a good burger and a beer. Their answer? “Hands down, Hopcat. It’s real close. Just up Woodward.” That recommendation would change the course of the day. We arrived at Hopcat and were surprised to see a jam packed dining room. Weird, because the street was far from bustling. The Q Line and some light foot traffic were the only signs of life, 2:30pm on a brisk March Saturday. It had been a long day already and it was only 2:30. We just wanted to sit in a comfortable chair, have a bite and escape from fluorescent lighting and the smell of the hospital for a while. A loud and lively place may not have been my first choice. The hostess must have seen it in my eyes, because she immediately suggested being seated in the upstairs dining room, which was less full and considerably quieter. Perfect. Now, this is where I’ll describe the reason that prompted me to take the time to write this. Cee Cee, (as she insisted we call her) greeted us with a comforting smile and a great attitude. You know that feeling you get when you meet someone who truly loves what they do? Yeah, she had us at ‘Hello’. She was excited that we had not been to Hopcat before. Now, she can educate us on Hopcat’s countless brews, menu items and even ordering options. It was so natural for her. She was happy to school us newbies in Hopcat 101. She had personal suggestions and favorites. She knew everything. She knew things only the Chef should know. I could have listened to her for an hour. Not only because there was a lot to learn, but I also felt the stress of the day begin to fade. We ordered beers and dove into the menu. This took me some time. I’m not sure there was 1 entree, sandwich, wrap or stuffed burger I did NOT consider. Yup, I was torn. So, I ordered one of Cee Cee’s favorites. It did not disappoint. In fact, it was a hit at the table. Everyone had to sample. Thankfully for ample portions, I got my fill. We were actually having a good time with Cee Cee. Throughout the meal, we kind of forced her into conversation. We were open and personal. She shared priceless and entertaining anecdotes on family, parenting and humanity. In the end, we learned this. Cee Cee is a fantastic server, a wonderful mother and an amazing woman. She deserves many more kudos than just my heartfelt thanks, a silly tip or these few words posted here. Thanks. Cee Cee, You rock. Pat, Nancy, Mike and Marlene"

"Local pub and restaurant near Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre always makes for a beautiful pre-concert. Come early enough and you can get street parking near the restaurant for the evening concert. Today we had a new waitress who bent backwards to make sure we had a great experience. Undoubtedly, she will blossom in a big waitress because she clearly took care of our culinary experience. A reservation was not really necessary, but it is always good to have one."

"Straight up, the absolute worst Thai food (or food) I have EVER had (and that's a lot). Chicken satay way overcooked, flavorless. Like a sad chicken breast you'd eat alongside some canned green beans at a retirement home. Medium pad Thai how can something be entirely flavorless and waaaay to spicy at the same time? Idk, but they figured it out. Chicken was measly, sparse (we paid for extra chicken too, and it was bone dry). Tofu tod at least gave us a laugh. Watery, meager, flavorless, but almost so bad it was funny. Pak pak, medium spice, was so spicy I couldn't even taste it. I love love love spicy food that has complexity and flavor, but this tasted like nothing, but it really hurt our mouths. And lips. And stomachs. 0 pleasure or taste. Idk how you even pull this off. We ordered some other stuff that we didn't even bother to try because our MEDIUM SPICE dishes are currently destroying our GI tracts. We don't splurge a lot on food, and this was so disappointing. We both made frozen Salisbury steaks after trying everything and trying to be optimistic. It was THAT awful."

"This was our first visit to Roast, Iron Chef Michael Simon’s restaurant in Detroit. When we arrived for our Thursday night 7:00 pm reservation, the restaurant was less than 50% full, the hostess who was not the most professional hostess I have seen, took us to a small two top. There were several empty four tops that we felt would be more comfortable. We asked and she told us to pick one. Soon after we were seated we were brought menus and a wine list. The wine list was impressive there must have been two or three hundred wines from which to select. The price range was from the low $30's and up. Since is was a special occasion, my wife’s birthdays, I selected a Rosé Cava. Our server brought the bottle to our table, poured me a taste, ad when I told him it was acceptable, he the filled both champagne flutes. I do mean filled they were almost to the top rather than half to three quarters full. We asked and were told the portion size was generous. Because of that we decided to share. For an appetizer we had Crispy Chicken Livers serve with Soft Polenta and Mushrooms. They were very good, although the may have been just a tad undercooked. The inside of some the livers was almost blood rare rather than pink. The flavor was excellent and we would order them again. For our salad we selected the Roasted Beet Salad with Goat Cheese, Walnuts, Watercress and Orange Dill Vinaigrette. It had roasted quartered red and yellow beets arranged in a circle over a large ring of goat cheese topped with the watercress. The dressing was very mild and complimented the salad rather than overpowering it. Again, sometime we would order at a further visit. For our main course we had Roasted Whitefish with Crab, Dill, and Lemon. The fish was nicely prepared grilled crisp on the outside and moist inside. As side we shared the Rosemary Fries and Fried Brussels Sprouts. The fried were served in what looked like a silver cocktail shaker it was heavy and warm. It kept the fries hot. The brussels sprouts were interesting. The were fried with walnuts and capers. Again, some we would order at another visit. For dessert we had the homemade donuts that were served warm with sour cream. A luscious finish to a well prepared dinner. Service timing was less than optimal. The appetizer was brought almost immediately we did not have time to relax and enjoy our wine. And the salad came almost before we could finish the chicken livers. The main course was delayed, in fact, we waited about half an hour after finishing our salad for the whitefish. The dessert was served in a timely manner but we has to wait for the bill. Overall we had a very good experience and we will definitely return to Roast."

"We stopped on our way to a Red Wings game. Only a couple blocks from LCA. They were very busy. We were seated right away. There are 2 floors. Both have a bar and plenty of TV's for watching sports. The second floor has windows that they keep open when the weather is nice. Everytime I've been here the food has been great. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful with any questions. My daughter loves their mac and cheese. You can get several different toppings for it."

"I used to frequent this place when I worked in the city, but I haven't been back in over 5 years. It has significantly improved on the inside with newer furniture and decor. The staff was very friendly and dealt with the large crowd with patience and smiles. The potato I received tastes good, but unfortunately, it isn't what I ordered. This is the reason for 4 stars. I received a potato with chicken and shrimp, no bacon, when I should have had steak, shrimp, and bacon. It was also missing mushrooms. I didn't notice until I made it home and started to eat my meal. I live 30 mins away so I did the logical thing and ate what I had. Just be sure to triple check your food if you don't live nearby. This was an overall good experience, so I will be back."

"My friend and I ordered top shelf Long Island drinks and they weren’t strong at all. We asked for our drinks to be remade and the manager came to our table all hippity hop and said “this isn’t some regular bar in the hood. Slow slip and let the drinks kick in” we were so in shock that we didn’t even care to go back and forth. Then we finished our drinks and like we expected there was barely any alcohol in them. When winded up having to order straight shots. Basically wasted our money on the Long Islands. Then ordered the appetizer wings and they came out burnt. The manager was so unpleasant that I was afraid to ask them to remake them. We just left. I didn’t even eat my food. The waitress was pretty okay ."

"there would take several more visits to give a fair review of this place, so I will only give a few different impressions. I cook very to house so that I engraved in restaurants to objects that are difficult for me to make perfect, or to do additional steps to prep, or somehow surprise me. the strongly vegan food card (axles) looked dense with the type of low-fat meal I would cook myself on weekday: a jambalaya, a tagin type thing, another pancake, etc. the article that was clearly out of this trend was the lasagne, the only non- vegan article. So I ordered the Couscous court and hoped for a spin on the teller. my mother ordered the lasagne and enjoyed very much. she is a picky enough food, so I'm sure this item is delicious. she said she was definitiw back. we ordered the general Tso-Kauliflower, who is a public lover. if they like this article, the general tso flower in the everyday vegan cookbook tastes exactly the same. my cousin was perfectly competent. the perfectly carved tempeh increased it over what I would have time to do for me, but it was a little common in other sight. the guava cocktail I ordered was perfect. service was friendly but quite perfunctory. didn't check in with us after eating. I have finally put my credit card on the table to win their attention that she understood without mentioning the total number. I will point out that I was only in cities that have vaccine cards checked and mask policies. I am sure that seva is not unique here, but eating in detroit is opening in this sight. we left early when a exposed couple sat right next to us. updated by previous review on 2022-01"

"We had a good experience at Jacoby’s, ordering the pork Schnitzel and the Rouladen with Spätzle.Having both been to Germany multiple times, it definitely tasted and was presented properly/authentic. The Warsteiner Pilsner was also spot on. Prices are reasonable and the service was fairly fast. They have a beautiful old carved wooden bar. I hope they stick around and I’d eat there again definitely."
