"A Really Cool Adventure!!!. Went to Luling today for the Watermelon Thump Festival and to eat at City Market. Well seems like everyone on earth knows that City Market is not open on Sunday's except me. No problem, we decided to eat up the street half a block at Luling Bar B Que, and I'm glad we did. The counters all the way at the back and the line went all the way to the front door. All 15 tables were full, and everybody was HUNGRY from cruising the Watermelon Festival, so we decided to stick it out. (The heavenly smell of BBQ contributed as well) Actually, it took all of about 10 minutes to get to the counter, (which gives you plenty of time to meet your neighbor in line and discuss the menu) yell your order at the guys behind the counter, pay and turn to hunt for a table. One of the absolute best things about Texas is that if you see a table that has a couple of empty seats where someone is sitting, it really is okay to introduce yourself and ask if you can join them. If they say no, you can bet they're from somewhere else. As luck would have it, a picnic table came open just as we turned from the counter, so we grabbed it and asked the family of 4 behind us to join us. We all sat down, said grace, and dove in. My sausage was terrific, but my wifes Jalapeño Sausage was unbelievable. Ribs were good, moist and just the right spice. My wifes Smoked chicken was out of this world. Heres the thing, NONE of this meat needed any BBQ Sauce. It was perfect just like it was. There was sauce on the table, and we tried it and liked it, but the meat just didn't need it. Thats Good Que!!! Sides were good and fresh, and weren't cooked into oblivion like most BBQ places. Service was Texas friendly and prices were way better than your standard BBQ prices in San Antonio. Combination plate was 7.50. For BBQ this good, thats a value. We said goodbye to our new friends and went to look for some watermelon for dessert. I don't know if City market is better than Luling's, but if it is, its got to be the best on the planet, cause this is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. This trip to Luling was a really cool adventure."

"**Appetizers:** **Chile Con Queso: 3/10** The queso was underwhelming; it didn’t offer much beyond a basic flavor. **Tacos:** **Al Pastor: 8/10** I had the Al Pastor on flour tortillas with cilantro, lime, and onions. It was wonderfully tender and had fantastic flavor. **Carne Guisada: 10/10** I ordered the Carne Guisada on flour tortillas without any extras, and it was as good as my own recipe. This was honestly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. **Bean, Cheese, and Potato Tacos: 10/10** I had two of these, and for basic tacos, they were excellent. They really know how to make a good taco. I think I’ll definitely be ordering tacos again on my next visit. **Entrées:** **Carne Guisada Plate: 7/10** Served with rice, refried beans, and two flour tortillas. The guisada was outstanding, the beans were tasty, and the rice had the perfect texture but lacked flavor, so some queso would be a nice addition. **Homemade Mole Enchiladas: 7/10** These enchiladas were covered in homemade mole sauce with queso fresco and sour cream, served with rice, refried beans, and two flour tortillas. They were decent, with a subtle sweetness and a hint of cinnamon. **Enchilada Plate: 4/10** This plate featured two cheese enchiladas served with guacamole salad, rice, refried beans, and two flour tortillas. Unfortunately, it was a letdown— the enchilada sauce and cheese weren't impressive, and the flavorless rice left me relying solely on the beans, while the guacamole tasted completely off. **The Big Burrito: 8/10** This massive flour tortilla was filled with Carne Guisada, rice, and beans, then topped with red sauce and cheese. It's a hefty portion at over 2 pounds. The Carne Guisada really shines inside this burrito, and the red sauce and cheese make it a must-try for burrito lovers. **Jr's Special: 8/10** This comes with one crispy taco, one bean chalupa, and one beef enchilada, all smothered in Mr. Taco's enchilada sauce and cheese. Everything on the plate was enjoyable, but I particularly loved the beef enchilada thanks to its extra flavor. The taco had a perfect crunch with well-seasoned meat, and the bean chalupa was delicious, thanks to perfectly seasoned beans. If you're in the area and craving Mexican food, you should definitely check this place out. The restaurant is clean, and the service is excellent. While some dishes hit the mark and others miss the bus, the overall experience was quite good. **Update:** After trying the enchilada sauce several times, I’ve started to appreciate it more. It’s much milder in flavor compared to most restaurants, but it complements dishes with stronger tastes. It might not stand out on a basic cheese enchilada plate, but it feels unique and light—definitely worth trying!"
