"Florida Casual. I just can't get enough of sitting outside on a perfect day along the water that enjoys excellent food while listening to music, and this describes my day today. Of course I can't stop with a line review. Bert’s is located along the road to Pine Island in Matlacha, an interesting route with all kinds of colorful restaurants and shops. Our first visit, so we played the big tourists. All seats on the desk were taken, but another couple allowed us to join them and we had a nice conversation. You can't beat Florida kindness, even though recently transplanted from Pittsburgh. It was an excellent start to our late lunch. As far as food is really important to you, I started with a good and salty Clam Chowder. Many shells and lots of taste. I asked what the most popular dish was and our server recommended two, the Fish Tacos and Fish Chips. I went with the second. The Fish Chips were so not traditional English. There was nothing that was wrapped in the newspaper and no need because there was no excess oil at all. The chips were not pommes, but very thin sliced and very light potato chips (may have used a little spice). Instead of some hard-broken fish pieces there were several small fish pieces, almost like fish nuggets, light and tasty. I had and enjoyed a nice sample of the deep fried oysters. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. In addition to the right in front of their restaurant, Bert’s also has some additional parking spaces. We parked at the other end of the shopping district and walked around and over the bridge, which was a nice opportunity for us to take into the surroundings. Berts was an excellent choice for us today."
