"The stars given for this review are not for the product, but the poor customer service at Rori's in Carpinteria. I love the pure, quality ingredients that Rori's uses, and their ice-cream tastes amazing. Unfortunately, their customer service.. not-so-much.Just about each time I have gone to Rori's I have encountered employees that seem less than thrilled to be there. Almost as if another customer through the door is intruding on their time to scroll through twitter. This normally wouldn't bother me... I would brush it off, and happily enjoy my delicious ice cream. However the last two visits to Rori's have been such bad encounters, I felt the need to speak to the manger, and now, write a review...Rori's hours online, and on the store window say they are open till 9 PM on weekends.A few weeks ago I went to Rori's at about 8:45 PM, excited that I was just in time to get ice cream before they close. As I walk up to Rori's, the employee is helping 3 people and dishing up ice-cream.As she scoops icecream, she proceeds to tell me they're closed. (it's 8:45PM, and their hours state they don't close till 9 PM)I then ask well why are you serving them then she rudely says its because it's her family...I brush it off and go to Rite Aid for ice cream. Still puzzled why she turned me away before the store closed, yet served her family....Again, I'm not one to complain. The reason I'm sharing this review because I hope the management and owner of Rori's takes this seriously and see's the importance of kind customer service. The last event is what ultimately led me to leave this review.Tonight at 8:30 PM I go to Rori's excited for some icecream. The doors are open, the lights are on, the employee sits on the stool, hunched over, scrolling through twitter, I'm assuming.I joyfully walk in, eager to order icecream, and she rudely says we're closed .I said, well the website and your sign right here say your open till 9PM She continues to be rude, rolls her eyes at me ,and completely disrespects me,.This attitude pushed me to engage with the manager, Casidy, who was actually surprisingly way more pleasant than any employee I've encountered at Rori's, and super genuine/kind.After speaking with Cassidy via phone, I said thank you to the employee who was present. She ignored me and turned around while rolling her eyes.As someone who formerly worked in customer service, this demeanor is just not acceptable.I understand that times are tough, and people may need to close their businesses early due to not enough customers totally understandable! But if that's the case be kind!!A simple I'm so sorry we had to close due to lack of customers, and now our systems shut down and I'm no longer able to processs transactions, but I hope to see you tomorrow This is an icecream shop!! Maybe I'm an idealist but I guess I just expected wayyy better customer service.Like I said, I love the quality of the icecream, I hope Rori's can level that up with quality employees who exude joy and happiness.Lindsay"

"I love San Ysidro Ranch and the Plow and Angel. Ambiance, food and service usually all wonderful. Very pricey, but wonderful! So I chose the Plow and Angel for my birthday dinner (and it was a BIG birthday!! : . I have to say it 's the first time I have been disappointed. Don 't get me wrong, the food was fabulous, as usual. The service was very nice and although attentive, not overwhelming. The big problem was with the wine. My friend and I were quite shocked with the prices for a bottle of wine! We searched the wine menu for quite a while until we found a nice sounding wine at $90. And that 's what we thought we ordered. But, when the bill came, the wine cost was billed at $175!!!!! Almost twice the cost of what we thought we ordered. We questioned this and the sommelier came to our table with the wine menu and insisted we had ordered the more expensive wine. We both said that we thought we had ordered the less expensive one, but he was insistent that we did not! We could have argued with him, but that would have ruined what was a lovely birthday dinner. So we didn 't argue and just paid. What 's particularly galling is that the wine was just 'ok '! Both of us put that down to it being the $90 wine... but for a $175 bottle, it was not very good! And then, the final thing was that the restaurant and staff knew it was my birthday. They didn 't even offer a complimentary dessert or after dinner drink. For such an expensive establishment, you would think they could spare a dime to celebrate a birthday!! I am so sad to only give a 3* review of this wonderful restaurant. But their service really let down the food and ambiance this time around. Probably be a long time before I return."
