"I like the mixed vegetable curry here and they make it exactly how I request it. The service is good and never a wait... today I went back and got the vegetables pad Thai; was soooo good the owners are Very Nice and friendly; it's family owned. Went back again on 1-16-24....so good and reasonable too. Soup came with my vegetable pad Thai...yum Ate vegetable pad Thai tonight and a bowl of soup comes with it for lunch and dinner. Always delicious ."

"Wow does this place get busy! Locals must really love it, but I found it just ok. They really have crowded a BUNCH of tables in here so I was a tad uncomfortable, especially when they tried to seat us right beside a large party when there were so many other empty tables available. I did request a table away from the other diners and was granted this request, even though it annoyed hostess. The place began to fill up as we were finishing our meal, but before that, service was a little slow for us and we had to ask for several portions of our meal that weren't delivered. The taquitos that I got were supposed to come with 2 beef and 2 chicken, but mine were all beef. They were good. My kids got Pollo Loco and they loved it. If you like a pretty basic Mexican fare, this place will make you happy. It does appeal to the masses. For my money, I rather enjoyed Papa's and Beer for authenticity."

"My favorite restaurant. I always get the same thing every time I go. Why did that girl tell me how to use the app? Now I got my card up there. That kale crunch salad is a colon cleanse. You cannot eat that every day. It is so good. I wish they could sell it in a bigger bowl. The employees are great. Probably like the commercial if I had a baby they probably would jump in the back seat and rock him/her to sleep. The Polynesian sauce woooo wee it taste better than sweet and sour sauce. I will be there later when they open up."

"We asked at the hotel if there was a good burger joint in the area. The nicest lady in the world told us, swear to God, There 's a Checkers just opened up down the street Folks, I love me some small town America! That being said, the Google map introduced us to this place and we 're pretty stoked it did. Downtown Shelby is really coming to life and this place is the pizza cornerstone. We had Jalapeno Pimento Cheese, a Girl on Fire pizza, and a Gambino Pizza. Everything was fantastic and our waitress, Amanda was top notch. Looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu."

"I frequent this location and it's usually late at night toward the end of their hours due to my work schedule. The staff are always friendly and the food is usually good. Tonight the guy who helped me (I didn't catch his name) held such a nice genuine conversation with me while he got my food. I told him I had sick kids at home and was headed home from work to that. After preparing everything and ringing me out he remembered and wished my kids better and even offered applesauce for them! Just such a eye opener in today's world of crazy to have someone kind at the end of a long day."

"That's a great setup. The food is generous, the taste is phenomenal, and the price is just right. The sauce is exactly the right ratio of brownish, sweet and spicy. The staff is friendly and the owner puts the atmosphere with his jolly personality. In any case, this will be a place to visit routinely."

"We were a few times before the change of ownership. Tonight was the first time through the new owners. An automatic satisfaction should be applied to tables of six or more as it was Valentine's Day. It was just me and my husband and there was an automatic satisfaction on our check. The waitress was not very attentive and then looked into a tip. We didn't appreciate that. The food and drinks were still amazing."

"We've been eating here since the early 90's. We hadn't been in 7 years though just because we didn't get to this part of the state. Nothing has changed!! Still some of the best food around. First timers are encouraged to try the bear supreme Burger. Come hungry, but be prepared to wait for a table. They're always busy. At least at dinner time. Try their soup too."

"We were in North Carolina to visit friends, and I was believed Mexican, so they suggested this place. My friend's husband worked here. It was very crowded when we arrived. But we sat quickly at a table near the door, but it was OK. The waitress did not seem to understand what we wanted with our order, even if my friend spoke to her in Spanish. So we both worries that the food doesn't get right out. When the food came out, it was very good! We got the queso Blanco and loved him! I got Nachos and they were also very good, the waitress was very nice and brought me a small bowl of sour cream, because I love sour cream with my nachos and Tacos. We were all satisfied and would like to come back at the next visit!"

"I decided to visit this restaurant based on the many positive reviews and experiences I read about on Google, and I was eager to give it a try. My first impression of the establishment was its lavish dining area. The almond wood finish and icicle lighting were particularly noteworthy. The menu was also helpful as it included photos of each sushi roll offered, a detail I had not seen before at a sushi restaurant. However, when it came to the sushi itself, I was not impressed. The rolls were loosely packed, making it difficult to eat with chopsticks as they kept falling apart. I had high hopes for the lobster tempura roll, but it was disappointing. The excessive sweet sauce covered up the flavors of the lobster, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese inside the roll. I also tried the Julian drum roll because it included sesame seeds, which intrigued me. Unfortunately, it was nothing special. Overall, my experience was not satisfying. It is possible that a new sushi chef who still needed more training had been recently hired, but I cannot say for sure. I may consider giving this restaurant another chance in the future in hopes of a better experience."

"We moved out of the Shelby area a few years ago. This is one of the two restaurants we miss most. The BBQ pig is great! You can cut, chopped, or naturally chopped. The BBQ (or red) Slav is a favorite. The area where we live now is strictly Cole Slav. Alston Bridges is clean, has a dedicated staff and fast service."

"We were on 3. June 2017 for a Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was beautiful because of the contemporary inspiring music that played. I like they have a variety of pizzas to choose from the buffet. The ingredients on the salad bar were fresh. It is a great place for children to play in the playroom. "We ordered a Scallop hibachi and mahi hibachi, along with gyoza as takeout order. First, the food lasted more than an hour to be ready, and when it was time to pick up, the food was not ready yet! We waited another 20 minutes for our last article, while the 2/3 meals were packed and cold. But not a big deal. We came home and opened them, and boys are sad. Served sweet carrots, frozen veg, steamed rice, both of which looked a day old and tasted. The scallops were honestly pathetic small and the Mahi was so overdue that it was hard and hard. Again the carrots are skillful and come into a kind of glaze that does not comb with the rest of the food. The Gyoza was also hard and the skin was hard. The taste was good, but the sauces were definitely missing. Who wants to eat old rice, canned veins and hard meat for $13? Not me. Definitely not worth it. Just hold the 2nd star because I love gyoza and tasted it well despite the shy texture."

"Not as good as we thought it would be. Did the lunch buffet and there were only about 4 meat items to choose from. Then there was rice and lomein. Food itself was not bad but the amount of options and staff attitudes were less than desirable. Price wasn't too bad; 2 buffets and 2 drinks came out a little more than $20. Ordering from the menu might be better but I doubt we'll be going back again to try."

"My husband and I took our mother’s to Mavrix’s for our first time Saturday night. I have read so many comments about people raving about this place, service and food. We walked in and Brandon the Mgr greeted us with a smile and asked how he could help. I requested a table instead of a booth and he told me it would be a 30 minute wait which was no problem. While waiting I asked his honest opinion about ordering Gene’s Way with garlic Parmesan cheese fries. Was it that good as what people were saying it was. Brandon confirmed it was and that’s what he orders and then I asked what sauce he recommended for the wings. He said crazy Q and boy was he right. I could hardly wait to get to our table which by the way was not a 30 minute wait to order. We got our table that I requested and boy did Brandon set us up with a fabulous waitress named Nina. Nina had a pretty smile and her reflection in her voice came across to us that she was happy to be there and service us. She answered a few more questions we had and did not rush us while looking over the menu. Nina and Brandon were very attentive to our needs and our first experience there was amazing. We can’t wait to go back and tell our kids and friends about Mavrix’s. It definitely was our first time but definitely not our last. The food was spectacular, the ambiance was fun and energetic but thank you Brandon and Nina for going above and beyond. We’ll be back!!"
