The food in general was decent. The decor is in need of updating. While I understand that it is themed, it desperately needs a refresh. "My favorite cafe of all time. I really liked the old location by the river but times change. This is everything a cafe should be. Great espresso, great milk drinks, great pastries, friendly people. The best cappuccinos I've ever had have come from here. No outside seating but there are lots of windows. I've been here a thousand times and I will come back a thousand more."

"Stayed here at previous gencons 2022, 2023. The location is great with the connection to the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucus Oil field (Colts). But then it stops. Elevators are slow to say the least, stay low and use the stairs. The breakfast was overwhelmed by patrons and the kitchen couldn't keep up. 2024 Stopped in for a gaming session in their ball room. Sat in the lobby for a moment. The host was rude at the resturant when asking for silverware, the bar was more accommodating. Overheard several groups talk about the food not being great. Doesn't seem like they've improved with staffing."

"How do I give less than a star? I go here because my wife likes the flamethrower burger. I just had the worst experience. I wanted to check my food first before I left. They missed my babies chocolate milk right away. Then I looked and they forgot my chicken sandwich. So I said something. They bring me a cheeseburger. I said it wrongs. They told me the chicken was in the kids meal. I said no it’s still a cheese burger. They kept calling me a liar. Who calls a customer a liar. They was being disrespectful. All I wanted was the right food. Why? Why is it so hard to get the order right? Even after the 2nd time it was wrong. Terrible service. Terrible environment. 0/10."

"Awesome, Awesome and Awesome. One of the best experiences, food, presentation, atmosphere. This place 200% speaks for its name, simply INCREDIBLE. I would suggest everybody to try their Buffet on Saturdays and Sundays. If you try them once, you can’t stop going back. One of the rare finds, not only in Indianapolis area but in USA. "I don’t know what happened to this place. The last time we went here, it was delicious, small plates. This time, the only good item was the cheeseburger. The menu was unappetizing, and the food was bland and unseasoned. The mushroom bisque was bland. The scallops were tasteless. The bruchetta was also lacking any flavor. Our waiter, Franklin, was attentive, and we had good service. My gin drink was good. It was oddly quiet in the restaurant, and so very cold. This is not the Spoke and Steele we remembered."

"I was on my way to an entirely different restaurant and saw this on my way. I love Indian food and chose to change plans last minute. I could not be more glad that I did!! Price point: I ordered the sampler platter at the back of the menu. I am absolutely blown away! This cost less than my burger and fries down the road. Food: The tandoori chicken is perfectly cooked, the lamb was falling apart off my fork, the mint chutney was delightfully surprising and spicy in the best way, the naan is unmatched, and the vegetable dishes were flavorful. The only less than perfect thing I could say is that I ordered tea I never got, and to be honest I couldn’t care less about it. The mango pineapple dessert was fresh, tangy, and sweet. The perfect ending. 10/10 chefs kiss "

"Went to Courses Restaurant at Ivy Tech for my birthday lunch today. Very nice venue and the food was great. It was our server's first day and he seemed a bit nervous, but we were well taken care of. I had the shrimp and grits (amazing, flavorful, and light , the Trumpet Mushroom Scallops (this was a minor issue: The menu made me think that it was a scallop dish, which is what I expected. It turned out to be just Trumpet Mushroom stems cut to look like scallops. The dessert was an opera cake and it was so good. Had a cup of coffee to round out the sweetness and it hit the spot. All in all, you can't beat $20 for a three-course meal in a nice setting. Go check them out. I will definitely be back and I am so impressed with the students who are the real MVP's!"

"Salsa Verde is always good. They have great drinks too! Their cocktails on Fridays are half off! If you order shots, you get these cute shot glasses. The only thing is if you want salt I think you have to ask for it. The food is good too, not just the drinks. They have quesabirria tacos that are like quesadillas and birria tacos in one and they are delicious. Just tried their beef soup on Friday and that was amazing as well. I first started coming here because they were the only ones who reliably had tamales every time. Lol"

"The past 2 visits have been overpriced and not very tasty. They have stopped using the ginger sauce and instead slather everything in what tasted like barbecue sauce, even my filet mignon! The fried rice was below par, and I'm not sure that the egg was cooked through. Before the meal, the salads were watery with a large glob of dressing was thrown on top. It was a very mild tasting dressing, not like it has always tasted. After the 2nd trip, I've declared there won't be a 3rd. I will go to House of Tokyo or Kumo."

"I have been coming to Hollyhock Hill for years. It is our go to place for birthdays or family events. My daughter and I celebrated my birthday yesterday with fried chicken and all the fixings. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was very tasty. The green beans were the best I’ve had there in years. I miss the linen table cloths, but most importantly the pretty colored goblet water glasses. Last night they did find a set and bring my water in those after asking, much appreciated. I would love to see the water glasses return. I did miss the cottage cheese, but my daughter doesn’t care for it. Perhaps it could still be offered to those who want it. Now, for my only real complaint, the ice cream syrups. Please bring back the previous brands! The current brands are horrible Butterscotch syrup is not supposed to be clear and they were all watery We were fine with the new plastic bottles for serving since I am sure they waste less product and remain sanitary My overall experience was great and I recommend this place wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a family owned, sit down wonderful dinner in a very quaint setting."

"My husband and I live in another state but grew up in Indy. Harry and Izzy's has always been somewhere we can count on to have great food and great service. We flew into town to see family and decided to celebrate my birthday dinner here. It was incredibly upsetting to have an experience so far below what we had expected. Our food was wonderful and I always enjoy the ambiance. But our server was awful. She was incredibly rude to us, very short to us and honestly barely showed up to the table. The final straw for me was when I went to tip at the end (which you now have to do directly in front of your server— something else I highly dislike), I asked about leaving a cash tip. I used to be a server for many years prior to opening my own business after grad school and always preferred cash tips so I like to leave them. She said I'd have to hit the “no tip” button and she rolled her eyes and walked away. It looked like the other servers near us were great but I'm highly disappointed in our service and it does make me hesitate to go back."

"My experience was none like I have had before. It started off fine. My waitress Sung was nice and did the best she could since it was her first day. After getting my appetizer, we waited about 30 minutes before the food came out. This is when it went bad. First the young lady that brought the food to the table was not our original waitress…okay. But here comes a young lady that I could tell worked there but was not on the clock. Other waitresses kept coming to her table while she was on her date with her “sugar daddy”. The fact that she jumped into the situation was out of line. She proceeded to take my food from the person on the clock with her dirty hands and wanted me to eat this food. This was unsanitary and the managers should not allow employees to do that. She had a very bad attitude and it took the grace of God to not curse her out. Unfortunately a person that was not on the clock caused a patron a negative experience."

"My husband and I went to this place randomly around like 1:30 pm on a Monday because we were craving authentic Mexican tacos. We were some of the only people there. These were delicious! I got the pastor, pollo, and chorizo taco. So good! Highly recommend."
