"We stopped here after a LONG day of driving and hiking with big appetites and the desire for a strong drink. The Cellar District is inside a repurposed church and it is spectacular (amazing, cool, chose your superlative). I don 't have an eye for design, but the interior design here is top notch. Many of the classic architecture was either repurposed or recreated to turn this into a restaurant. The bar especially, it looks like it belongs in a church with plenty of ornate wood and wrought iron. So cool! Seating was plentiful, and service was quick enough. The place is beautiful, the waitress was a little off par. Kept forgetting things. The food was tasty but overpriced. I had a smash burger and ask for only one patty instead of 2 and they charged me the same price. It will be awhile before going back. Where to even begin, Lauren and Sam you are both phenomenal humans! Don’t trust the reviews! We came to fond du lac on a whim for an anniversary celebration, and we fell in love with the cellar district. Aside from the fun atmosphere of a church turned restaurant, the food is top notch! As a Chicagoan couple we love to eat! The sconnie burger.. thank me later! Melt in your mouth, crazy burst of flavor goodness. Thank you to the kitchen staff, Sam and the owners who made our drive home to Chicago so much better with our burger to go! We cannot WAIT to come back!
