We always eat here when staying at the Lodge at Joe Wheeler. The food is tasteful, a good selection, great servers and nice atmosphere looking over the lake.

Breakfast buffet was pretty good overall. The grits were cooked well and not runny. Biscuits were big and fluffy, and gravy was delicious. Scrambled eggs and bacon tasted good. Sausage patty was nothing special. Service was good with a quiet morning view of the Tennessee river. Thursday two for $30 dinner special was a reasonable price but was a different story. The fried catfish was OK. But then it went downhill. We got 2 dirty spoons, one of us requested a medium rare ribeye that was horribly cooked as well done (no red inside or juice coming out), hush puppies were burnt black for two entrees and steamed vegetables were not cooked with any taste. Was expecting a lot more from this place. First off view is fantastic but the windows are extremely filthy and look like they have never been cleaned. The waitstaff was friendly but extremely disorganized. And like so many businesses today under staffed.Food was a seafood buffet only. No ordering off menu. I do not care for seafood but knew going in to this they had alternatives. We the chicken tenders were just brought out and were ice cold. The large fries were ice cold. My wife's seafood she said was ice cold.The restaurant in fact the entire lodge needs a major refurbishment.
